I keep repeating,"Thank God I never joined the military," but a close friend of mine had a very good time in the army in the '80s. Constant fucking is how he describes it. The arc of the story for Sullivan, the muscular Drill Sergeant, seems odd, but if it's from the book then I guess that's the only way to tell it.
