So I was a (pretty good and very active) escort during college, here in Chicago, between 1998 and 2003.  Indeed, I look back at that period and the only regret is that I did not do it for a few years longer.

Recently I moved and came across some shoe boxes of, well, crap that I had sealed up when moving form my college era studio flat.  In it was a treasure trove of that time...4 day planners, an honest to god pager, and my journal which covered every experience I had in detail.  Down to the position preferred and money paid.

I have a month off this summer and have decided to give amazon self publishing a try.  I am going to recount four years of my life, going into detail about the hectic world I lived.  Nightclubs, clients, so many condoms....and at least 20 experiences that still stand out in my brain.  

Is there anything that forum folks would be particularly interested in reading about?

Good for you!  Look forward to reading it.  Best advice I can give, as someone who loves to read and was an escort for over 20 years, is read the other escort Memoirs and Escort Fictions first so you can distinguish your work  There are a lot of them.  Congratulations.  Let us know when it's up.  I'm on my way out the door, but you can look for threads here, escort book, escort memoir, etc.

Assuming the Position.  Both Aaron Lawrence books, Boy Culture (movie is better, but book good too), most famously City of Night, plenty of escorts on this board past and present have memoirs but I'm blanking on the names, you can find them easily.  Have fun!

I have a written record of my 33 years as a client, but I don't intend to publish it. I keep it safely locked away until I am in the ground. I have left it in my will to an academic library, in case anyone is interested in doing research on late 20th/early 21st century sex work history.

I went on the hunt and pulled out the 6 books I have (all of these, plus a few more) and it was interesting.  In particular Aaron Lawrence.  I am honestly surprised that he shared some of that info when he was still actively escorting; there are just some things that I would think you need to not say until you are done using them psychologically on clients.  

As I have been reading these day planners and also this journal of sorts it is bringing me back to my late teens / early 20s in ways I was not expecting.  I had forgotten there that I had a listing on M4M Escort World and came across an email form that site from Jeffry Hurant, asking me to join his new website called Rentboy.com and offering up a free 6 months.  The internet really was a different time back then.  I had also honestly forgotten how much time I spent at 24 hour diners...all of these books have receipts stuck into them from the Melrose Diner and they are always at 3AM.

Speaking selfishly, what would most interest ME is your reflection on what it was like for you then -- in the internet era but pre-app, pre-prep, pre-videocall, etcetera -- and how what it is (and is not) like now. It would also be amazing if you included (or threaded) your own perspective as a client (if you do indeed hire).

Also: have you read Don Shewey's Daddy Lover God? Shewey's a great writer and it's a different take on the whole experience. Also David Pevsner's Damn Shame is pretty great.

I would be interested in your 'schooling' as well during those years, since you were in Chicago for your college education. I would be interested how you balanced the two, were you concerned about having fellow students or professors show up at your door as a client, were you worried classmates would find out what you did, etc.  Such a story within the story !

Your story reminds me of an escort I had as a regular back in that period. He was a college guy and I was fairly smitten by him for a couple of years. After he graduated he moved in with a doctor who happened to be my family doctor. That ended his escorting career and he went into real estate. 
Long story short, I keep all my annual agendas and can go back and see all the dates we had. He was expensive at first $150 but after about ten dates he said I could pay $100 thereafter. He was some of the best sex I ever had. He also knew another escort and we did threesomes too.

I wish someone involved in the London escort scene would write a book. After brexit - a lot left, though somehow every 2-3 months a fresh batch of Brazillans come in to replace the ones that expired from drug overdoses and disease. I don't know if Chemsex is a big thing in the states.

The guy to write a book about the London escort scene would be LondonBoyPete. I might suggest it to him. 
If you know anything about him(you can google his name) he starred in a movie about 15 years ago which was based on his real life as a London escort. He was very young then.

Since then he has had a successful career as an escort and travels a lot. He has not been waylaid by drugs as so many have. He keeps incredibly fit and is very hot even as approaches 40.

He scrubs up well for his age, to be fair.

I’ve had the chance to meet a few punters over the years some here in the UK, and a few in the States. What makes the UK stand out, if I’m honest, is just how bad things are with mental health. Loads of clients here are clearly struggling, but it’s often undiagnosed and definitely untreated. And it’s not down to looks or anything  there’s usually more going on beneath the surface. I’ve met quite a few through shared circles, and the pattern’s pretty clear: proper mental health issues that no one’s addressing.    Then there are the Brazilians who operate on a 3-6 month cycle before overdosing on G that the Border Force seems to let in liberally.

In contrast, over in the US, people seem a bit more open to actually getting help — therapy, medication, the lot. I suppose having private insurance helps, and in the big cities especially, there’s just more support available if you need it.

Obviously I’m generalising, but that’s just how it’s played out in my experience.

I haven’t seen Pete in over 5 years but I imagine he has held up well. He wasn’t into drugs and still doesn’t list pnp in his ad. He also has a faithful regular clientele and they treat him well as he does them.

He had a good head on his shoulders and I believe had a strong link to his family so this is all good in maintaining a balance in one’s life. We keep in touch at least once or twice a year and I would love to see him again. Canada is a small market though for travelling escorts. And such a great distance away.

I met one in Sao Paolo who used to work in London.  He stayed for 6 months which is fair as the Home Office will let them in, and went back.  It was, undoubtedly the worse appointment of my life. 

Attention everyone : DO NOT hire a Brazilian escort in Brazil who used to work in London.

By the time they come back, they are absolutely spent and there is nothing left.  He came to my hotel room and began the appointment with a hit of drugs which I did not partake.  It went downhill from there. 

Plenty of others to choose from.
