coriolis888 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 There is an advertiser on rentmen that I was considering hiring. I requested his locked photos to be open for me. He opened the pictures for me two days ago. However, I was occupied and away for two days and did not get back to the provider immediately. Tonight I tried to open the pictures but the provider has changed his mind and told rentmen to lock the photos again for me. Should I now ignore this provider considering his immature behavior of relocking photos that I did not immediately open to see? If he is that picky or wishy-washy before hiring, how might he behave it in the future? The guy is handsome but that strange childish relocking of his photos again because I did not immediately look at them is a bit concerning about his overall behavior that might affect his future behavior if I were to meet with him. Any thoughts would be appreciated. marylander1940 1
Moke Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Hi @coriolis888 I would err on cutting the guy some slack at this point. There are many reasons he might have relocked and I think most aren’t malicious or childish. I would at least send a second request and he may easily just open them back up for you. It’s happened to me a few times and I don’t really understand why some providers put a timer on unlocking, but I just shrug it off. Almost always they have unlocked on second request as well. + Pensant and + azdr0710 2
Becket Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Yea, don't try to read the minds of your providers. A session rarely goes the exact way you imagined it would. Just enjoy the experience and ignore the little stuff. He'll do the same thing as well if he is any good at his job.

Your response makes sense. However, there is more to the situation than I originally wrote. He also ignored my question about his fee. His messages are polite but relocking the photos (that do not need to be locked on a rentmen site) plus ignoring my question about the amount of his fee (three different messages) I feel that meeting him would be a disappointment. When a provider plays a game by asking rentmen to relock his photos because a client does not immediately open the photos and the provider also ignores a question (three times) concerning the amount of his fee, this indicates that the provider is likely not any good at his job. In other words, not worth pursuing any longer. + DrownedBoy, marylander1940 and + Pensant 1 2

I do understand someone relocking his pics after not hearing from a potential client for 2 days, but all questions should be answered and special such an important question like his rate. + DrownedBoy and Your Man in Arlington 2
ICTJOCK Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I would consider it at best a "yellow flag". When clients ask me to unlock photos, I do it and don't think about relocking them. Things happen, people are busy. I wouldn't have been the least concerned if you took two days to check out my photos. That said, he might have had some experience that warrants that behavior and I'd suggest another effort. If you have a problem again with the interaction, I'd move along. There are many others that would appreciate your time and interest. + DrownedBoy, Njguy2, Moke and 3 others 5 1

Re-locking the pictures doesn't necessarily makes him "wishy-washy" or "immature". He wants some of his pictures locked and not available at any time. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Among other questions, I asked him the amount of his fee. He did not answer the fee question even though he sent three requests to ask when we would meet. He continued to ignore the amount he expected as his fee. Further, he did not unblock the photos that he had opened and then reblocked because I took two days to respond to him. No wonder he has only three reviews although he has advertised on rentmen for nearly one year. + DrownedBoy 1

Thelatin Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Rather than ask a rate - there is the option of making an offer. I’ve used that successfully in the past. coriolis888 1
TT3690 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I'd move on if he can't answer the rate question- that's pretty basic and necessary info

Reasonable people can disagree. I disagree that on a graphic site such as "rentmen," some photos are "locked for a reason." What reason? If you look through rentmen advertisements, you will see countless extremely graphic photos of providers. In consideration of that fact, I am puzzled why a relatively small number of providers feel it is necessary to block some of their graphic photos. In this case, the provider lost a "sale" because of his choice to block his photos and not answer the question asking to know the amount of his fee. As I wrote, reasonable people can disagree.

His method of advertising - ignoring three requests to know his rate plus his stunt about relocking his photos speaks volumes about his advertising approach. Only three reviews within one year on rentmen confirm that the provider is wishy-washy in his advertising method. I will ignore future messages from the provider considering his unusual approach to advertising himself. Thanks to all for responding. jackcali, soloyo215 and + DrownedBoy 1 2
