viewing ownly Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Do brand new advertisers really think this tactic makes any kinds of sense? If by crazy chance a flurry of bookings come in the likes of which you've never thought you'd experience, why would you want to stop? I'm referring to brand new, not established. I'd say realistically it's about 50 / 50 with guys who genuinely are done with doing that in their lives when they claim to be. I just wish the long-time guys who I've enjoyed for many, many sessions who are no longer available (but are alive and well) would've given a heads up instead of "poof".
pubic_assistance Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 (edited) There's a clothing store that's been going out of business since I moved to NYC. I moved in 1995. World's longest clearance sale ! Edited July 3, 2024 by pubic_assistance BonVivant, BuzzLiteQueer, + robear and 5 others 1 7
viewing ownly Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 Would that be a never closing clothing store? They should do the unimaginable and have a 1 day, full price sale. It would be chaos! One of my fantasies would be to open up 1 gas station, a chain, in every state where pot is legal, and call it "high gas", making sure I have the most expensive fuel in the state, and weed available (along with merch). + DynamicUno Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Perceived scarcity generates demand. For someone who has little else to distinguish him in a crowded market, saying you better get it now or never can be just the edge they need. Redwine56 1
+ KensingtonHomo Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Oddly, I haven't seen this so much as guys we've previously hired letting their profiles expire. If there's a rapport, I will still reach out, but I've only seen JewishMike take this tact because he was genuinely stopping.
+ ThroatCummer Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 One escort I know changes his profile name, changes the pics, and puts it in a random unknown town on another continent, all because he wants to take time off (six months, a year, etc..) but RM doesn't allow suspending profiles without deleting and he wants to keep his 100+ 5.0 reviews. So anyone looking wouldn't find him, but he's out there somewhere. + KensingtonHomo 1

A girl I knew a while back who was a hair stylest had dreams of opening up her own salon. Taking this slightly off subject... If I had a dollar in my pocket for all the times providers left the business and came back.... Sean Xavier has quitted escorting at least 4 times because of getting married, finishing college, x, y, etc. and came back all 4 times. I don't know if he's working now or in "quitting mode" between leaving and coming back again. BaronArtz, + DrownedBoy, + APPLE1 and 1 other 2 2

I didn't know that about Sean, but I think mentioned that he had to bow out of advertising on one of the masseur sites recently that prohibits deposits as recommended payment, which is what he's now doing.

This is a little nerdy, but there's research about it and there's the Scarcity Principle of business. The scarcity principle is an economic theory in which a limited supply of a good—coupled with a high demand for that good—results in a mismatch between the desired supply and demand equilibrium. It works for some people, and in different settings. In fact, the scarcity principle is the heart and soul of religious recruiting tactics. So as silly as it might sound to some of us, it does speak to some. Edited July 7, 2024 by soloyo215
IamAdamRose Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 As a provider who’s getting back in the biz these tactics scream Desperation & i would honestly avoid them pubic_assistance 1

World's longest clearance sale ! There was a similar store in Chicago when I was a kid. Then one day, they actually went out of business. Turned out, the department of consumer services received one too many complaints, pulled their business license and, "poof" they were gone. At the time, Chicago had a very strict ordinance about going out of business sales, as it was pretty common for stores to pull that stunt. But back to the topic - every time I see "book me now before I'm gone" I think "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." Johnrom, + DrownedBoy and pubic_assistance 3
