Rio de Janiero- update on Saunas Requested

Hi All.

I'm off to Rio soon.  But it's been years since I've been to the Rio saunas and hired a garato. But its been since before the covid pandemic & I fear my knowledge base is outdated.  I need updated guidance on saunas. 

1) What are the names of the currently open gay saunas w garatos?

2) Which nights are best for which sauna? In the past most saunas had maybe two busy nights with mostly dead nights the other night.   In the distant past some wonderful man wrote out a brief week spreadsheet of the saunas and which nights they were busiest. Is there an updated one?

3) What is the current going rate for a programa?

There is a sauna right across from posto 9 in Rio that brings many travelers and there is also the escort sauna where u will pay for the guys called club 117

never heard of one near posto 9 (Ipanema)......is this similar to the 202 and 117 saunas (legal brothels) or a different concept?

The one by the beach is not the escort one, it’s the one locals and travelers go that want a free hook up.. less likely to find the super hot guys there cause usually you have to pay for those, but I lucked out once and met a hot guy there as I was about to leave and we had a great time. I forget the name but if you ask any guy in that area that looks “gay” they most likely will know.

The name of that escort-less sauna in Ipanema is Rio G Sauna. It’s on Rua Teixeira de Melo, halfway between the beach and the park.

Hey folks!

Thank you for the help & info.  It's very, very appreciated that you took the time to offer me help!  TBH, this is unlike the response  I got from a guy on this board I DM about Rio this week. Yes, he answered my DM but not only did he outright refuse to answer my question but was quite rude & inappropriate to me.   And it was just a question about saunas, nothing inappropriate at all! (Jeeze, why bother to respond at all then?).  

But your suggestions will be used! And off to Rio soon I will go....

I am going to Rio too. I am trying to visit both Rio and São Paulo, but it’s hard to find a direct flight to Rio. Therefore, I will take a flight from JFK to São Paulo, then to Rio, and back to JFK. It’s a hassle to go from Rio to JFK directly. Since I haven’t bought my tickets yet, I will decide in mid-July if I will stop in São Paulo on my way back.

In Rio, I am considering staying at a hotel called Astoria. I passed by it, and it looks nice. The last time I stayed at the Windsor, it was overpriced and had lousy internet. I hate hotels with bad internet, so I will opt for a three-star hotel and use a better cell plan since I already have a phone and a plan with TIM, which is very good.

I hope this time I have better luck with the weather. I am leaving on September 17th.

There is my Brazil trip post.   I added some pics   Boy, I love Brazil so  I will do another extensive post,this time I am looking forward to have a better weather experience with Rio  fingers crossed

Is not the Windsor a chain? I love the Miramar Windsor. Haven't tried any others. At which Windsor did you stay?

Thank you for asking!!  But alas, I had to postpone my Summer trip as my colleagues need coverage for their vacations and I've (reluctantly, but generously) offered to cover them for their Summer vacations.  But I'm definitely planning on a Fall trip to Brazil (and yes, they WILL for cover me) & really grateful to peoples help on this board.

I may be in Brazil in early September, and I check the above forums frequently.

Finally, I have met Jose personally and he was very pleasant to speak with!

If he would have done some minimal research, he would have seen those recommendations, probably in every single thread here about Brazil.

Maybe it’s just the NY’er in me but I didn’t find @José Soplanucas’s response rude at all. Ok, maybe the "do some research" was a little catty, but not really rude. If he said, "stop being a such lazy bitch and look the information up yourself, you worthless piece of shit", then yeah I’d call that kind of rude. But "do some research"? Rude? Really? How about we add "grow some balls".

My suggestion for a DM to a person with whom you have had no previous contact is to first introduce yourself and then tell the person why you picked him for an answer, Just coldly asking for the information is not a good tactic..

Look... with or without civil formulas, in public or privately, none of that really matters to me. If anyone asks questions that can be answered in a five minutes search, it is not stimulus for my nice side. In public I will ignore them, in private I will redirect them, just as I did.
