I am contacting escorts in London and the first rate I've been given is 120 pounds an hour.  Thats only 150 US dollars?   Am I doing this exchange correctly?   I mean thats what the exchange calculators are saying.  Just seems cheap in terms of US rates so I want to make sure I'm figuring this out correctly.  

Also,  I could be an idiot so please enlighten me.

The dollar has been strong, hence the FX rate.

IMO the rate you mention (£120/$150) seems low to me. For reference, I used to pay that rate for the best guys 15-20 years ago. Of course, back then that equated to US$200 .

I’ve haven’t hired in many years but I hear from friends that top-quality - beautiful face, muscled physique, passionate and versatile - guys ask £200/$250 in London.

Apart from doing the obvious checks as to compatibility and availability, you should check if the rate quoted is at their place only? If you want them to travel to you, are you to pay for their taxi/Uber both ways? (Given traffic can be slow in central London, you may want to set a limit on travel costs)

he actually quoted me 130£ for outcall.    I went back to his ad to make sure he wasn't primarily someone who gives massages but no...it all talks about full service.

despite London being among the most expensive cities in the world, provider/"escort" rates there have always been a relative bargain for years, based on past forum chatter.......I don't know why, but wonder if it's because it's quasi-legal, or there is a big supply vs. demand, or ????

A huge number of escorts in London are from Brazil or other Latin American countries and compared to their hometowns, the London rates enable them to send some money home. Assuming they can find reasonable accommodations which are scarce in London.

I imagine they often double up or share with even more providers they know to save on expenses.

And of course a lot of high rollers come through London so they probably do very well on multi-hour engagements.

Yes, for the last 30 years at least. Endless variety at reasonable prices. There's much less stigma to escorting / hiring than in the US. And London is full of handsome immigrants and students from EU countries happy to be paid. Some of the London rentboys I've hired had a casual cheerfulness that reminds me of Brazil.
