Other than the Ramada, where is it not going to be a scandal where I walk in with a hot young man.

Petit Ermitage, Kimpton La Peer and Chamberlain are on you list of interest. I've stayed at Sofitel several times, but think it was getting tired last time I was there.

Thoughts? Maybe nothing is more 'accessible' that Ramada, but urgh.

Those are some pricey hotels, but nice. Most people would probably need an Uber/Lyft/taxi to get back up to the Sunset Strip hotels. If you want a hotel within easy walking distance of WeHo's Boystown, and/or reasonable rates, you're probably stuck with the Ramada. I've never been inside, but how bad can it be? For affordability with comfort, I can recommend the Hilton Garden Inn on Highland at Franklin Ave. It's not in WeHo, but a quick and inexpensive Lyft/Uber. If you're in a car, it has parking included (at least it did the last time I stayed there, while house-hunting 3 years ago), so one can add that to the savings, and I think no "resort" or other scam fees, like I'm guessing the snazzy Sunset Strip and/or Kimpton La Peer hotels have.

Wow. I just looked at the prices at Petit Ermitage, and the cheapest I can find is $435 a night for a small twin-bedded room, and that doesn't even include a $35 "Amusement fee," or $60 daily parking 😲. After taxes, you're looking at >$600/night minimum. Gotta be pretty rich to afford that crap. 🤑 If you have $$ and need to stay in WeHo, I'd at least go with the Andaz, which has larger rooms, and views, just as snazzy for upwards of $277/night plus $32/night "destination fee." My previously-recommended HGI has rooms upwards from $199 with no BS mandatory mark-up fees. It looks as though parking's now $50/night, though. Save the money and hire someone nice. There's also a Best Western next to the HGI, where I found an $187 rate, with only $20 for parking. HGI is probably nicer, but BW is decent (I'm not sure about WeHo's Ramada). The Ramada goes for about $207/night plus $55/night parking. Tripadvisor ranks it 18/20 hotels in West Hollywood, so probably better at the Highland Blvd. hotels.

I stayed at the Kimpton in Toronto a few weeks ago and as I had not been there for ions when I was on business travel, I wondered how they would handle my nightly visits of escorts. These guys would meet me in the lobby and it would have been hard to pass them off as "nephews" or "grandsons" even since they were in their late 20's and Latinos with lots of muscles poured into tight summer clothes.

My apprehensions were dispelled after the first evening when I found the atmosphere was very casual at the front desk and all the hotel guests were a  very mixed cosmopolitan crowd. My guys fit in very well.

And I was paying around $500 per night including valet parking and breakfast. I would stay there again.

You could check out the London Hotel on San Vicente Blvd just south of Sunset Blvd. Very convenient to Weho Bars/Clubs. You could walk from the Ramada to the London.

The London Hotel has an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the bars, but is also quite pricey. For a week from now, one night goes for a minimum of

1 night
$469

Taxes & fees
$74
Resort fee
Due at property
$35
Total
$577

This doesn't include parking at $65 a night (plus tips for the mandatory valet parking).  So you're looking at some $645 a night minimum. At least the rooms are a lot nicer and bigger than the Petit Ermitage, and that place includes breakfast and a car service for the afternoon, so if I had money to blow, I'd take that over the PE. For me, I'd much rather go to the Hilton Garden Inn on Highland and take rideshare into WeHo. Rooms with a view at the London Hotel aren't much more expensive than the cheapest rooms, I would definitely recommend that.

If I really needed to be in WeHo proper, and needed a 4* hotel, probably the most reasonably priced is the Ziggy Hotel. The rooms prices aren't completely crazy:

1 night
$239
Taxes
$35
Resort fee
$38
Destination fee
$10
Total
$323

Resort fee and a destination fee? WTF? Oh, well. Add another $60 a night if you'll park there. You could walk down to the bars, but it would be quite tough to walk back/probably need a Lyft/Uber. Actually, if you're a member on hotels.com, it looks like you can get the Ziggy for even less:

1 night
$203 per night including
Member savings 15%
(-$36)
$203

Taxes & fees
$30
Resort fee
Due at property
$38
Destination fee
Due at property
$10
Total
$282
You save $36 because you’re a member!

I stayed several times at the Chamberlain in WeHo, but I’ve not visited since the pandemic.

The hotel has several advantages: I liked the location very much; the rooms are large and quiet; a decent-sized rooftop pool; the staff were pleasant and efficient; and there’s a large garage which never charged me for visitor parking.

As for the OP’s concern about scandal/being seen with various hot young men, it was never a problem for me. There are several gay men on the staff. Once the man on reception congratulated me on my date; another time, when I told the Garage that my visitor was going to extend his parking to stay overnight, the response was Have a great time.

That's awesome!

Just checked the Chamberlain, and it looks as though their most affordable room goes for $359 plus $33 "Urban Amenities" fee, plus $10 "City Worker Protection" fee, plus other taxes totaling $464 a night, plus $60 a night for parking, or $524/night (discounts for AAA or 3+ night stays). It's right behind the Ramada, so great location walkable to the bars. I think if you'll be staying 3 nights, this could be a good choice if you have the dough.

FWIW I used to stay there for 1-2 weeks at a time and I always got a good discount (booking direct).

It still surprises me how quickly travel has rebounded since the pandemic. I can live with the increase in the price of restaurant dinners etc, but I find hotel room rates have surged upwards to an astonishing degree.

Both in the US and Europe, luxury hotels that used to charge $600/€500 a night pre-pandemic are now well into ‘four figure’ territory. Italian hotels in particular are cashing in - I enquired about a September stay in an hotel I’ve visited before, and “as a loyal client” was quoted €2300 a night for a sea-view room!

it is crazy!

I know inflation is real, but come on... And I know that the employees who make these hotels what they are do not likely cash in at the same level as owners and shareholders.

Thanks for this great review of the Chamberlain.  I was just in WEHO in June, for the first time since before Covid.  And I was reminded how "dumpy" the Ramada is.  And I've been wanting to try the Chamberlain...  and I definitely will now!

At Sofitel...

Our urban fee (or Resident Fee) is a nightly standard hotel fee of $36.56 that includes Unlimited High-Speed WiFi, Free Domestic Calls within the US, Local Shopping Discounts, Digital Newspapers & Magazines, complimentary package handling & storage, & free EV charging with paid valet parking.

They dont even try to defend it - in some cases you dont find out about these fees until you check in. Happened to me in Washington DC at a Marriott.

I agree that failure to include all of these mandatory fees in the hotel price is complete BS. If I were making the laws, all required fees would have to be included in the price. Of course, I'm OK with not including optional services such as parking, but those should be clearly and easily disclosed before-hand (often they're difficult to find on the hotel's website).

I like the idea of this happening in a movie, maybe a comedy.  Maybe I'll try to start aa thread about it.
