I understand actors' concerns about AI, and I think they are quite valid.

However, I can't help but think of the possible gay porn benefits.  As someone who was a fan of quite a few stars from the 1980s, I've become much more cognizant than I was back then about how many of them often did scenes with guys that weren't comparatively as hot.  Just imagine if the technology became simple and cheap enough that anybody could pair up any 2 (or 10) guys they'd want to see together, even if they never worked together.  (and wouldn't THAT be an interesting topic?)

Isn't that what is at issue here? With AI studios can replicate and alter performances of actors or models and the lsttrr don't get any compensation for their images being used.

Yeah, but I don't think the estates of men who died 30+ years ago will be too litigious.

The consumers will ultimately weigh in eventually. There will probably be labeling of large- and small-screen storytelling product, verifying whether live actors play live humans in the movie/series/episode. I think a market for real people playing characters will remain. That said, I also think greed at the top will only increase, and production will move offshore as much as possible.

Publishing companies used a similar screw job to illustrators with “work for hire” contracts where an artists illustration would be reused in different ways without added compensation. Studio musicians probably face the same screwing when they perform on a recording and have no skin in the game when the album gets re-released.  No surprise that studios view AI in the same way

There is something about a real human performing that keeps us going back to watching plays and movies. For the movies, too much CGI is always a turn off for me. I dont think AI will replace actors and acting. Same thing with music. Synthesized music / voice is good for a few minutes, but we still long for real instruments and real human vocals.

Unfortunately soon we won't be able to tell the difference between a human acting or a studio who purchased (or created) his image to reuse over and over again in movies, social media, advertising, etc.

So what makes the folks at the top think they won't also be replaced by AI?  unsure.gif
