Concerned About "Privacy" And Blocking At RM and COM?

I've seen several posts in the past few weeks expressing concern about RM-listed providers blocking clients for various reasons.....and other similar concerns......

those who are "miffed" by this may want to check and adjust their privacy settings......I'm a premium member at RM, but any registered RM member (paying or not) can do this, I believe......

in RM, go to your "My Settings" and then to "Privacy Settings".....choose your preferences for the several settings using the drop-down menu, then hit "Save".......

in COM, go to "Account Settings" under "Settings" and then go to "Security and Privacy"......you may need to enter your COM password at this point.....under "Privacy", select "show...." or "hide...." your status....your selection will be automatically saved

yes, non-premium members can block users, among other privacy features.

My sense is that if providers are blocking potential clients, then something happened to cause the block.  I’ve blocked providers where there have been issues and I don’t want to mistakenly engage them again if they’ve substantially changed their profile or I just forgot the details.  It’s not a big deal - just move on

To clarify, there are two separate issues being canvassed here:

  • The ability of users (both escorts and clients) to block other users - yes they can - and separately,
  • The ability of RM users to mask the fact that they have viewed a profile. There is a perception, probably accurate, that some providers block (see previous bullet point) users who have viewed their profile but not contacted them. Masking your visits prevents a provider from taking this potentially annoying step.

It pays to know that you can block others for whatever reasons you choose, and they can do the same to you. As a client, it can be annoying if a provider blocks you, but in most cases there's nothing you can do about it (all cases, after the fact). It's useful to know that at least there is one way you can reduce your chances of being blocked.

How stupid an escort would be to block a potential client looking at his profile. I, sometimes look at profiles weeks in advance before I decide to engage. I don’t think an escort would block potential clients because they looked at his profile without contacting him. One of my regular showed me that he gets an average of 300 views per day if he pays for Platinum, and he showed me the list of people. Also I have been contacted many times by escorts after they saw I looked at their profiles.

Recently I encountered a RM ad the had me blocked even though I don't recall ever interacting with them.  It was weird because it was a provider from Europe whose ad was RMOTD on the front page and showing then visiting NYC.  When clicking the ad I got the block notice.

I don't even I recall interacting with them and since they're usually overseas, they're not someone I would have looked at when casually browsing.

Since I'm not ever likely to be in a position to hire them, the block was more of a curiosity then anything else. No sense in giving it any more mind than that.

Honest questions, since I don't know the intricacies of how Rentmen works:

Can you block based on IP address?  If not, then it seems like the work-around for someone who is blocked is to log out of Rentmen and then view the ad.  I never signed up for a Rentmen account but I do have a Rentmasseur account; I usually browse the latter while logged out and only log in if I'm serious about hiring versus just browsing to see who is new in my area.

Does it cost Rentmen advertisers more if their profile is viewed more?  If not, then I don't understand why any provider would block someone based on profile views.  All sorts of businesses have customers who browse but never buy, and other customers who browse extensively before buying.  Why should escorting be any different?  Someone is supposed to look once and then book immediately?

Users cannot block based on IP address, only account level.  It wouldn't be useful anyway since mobile devices change IP all the time.  So yes, logging out would let you see their ad again, but you're not able to message or review them.  I'm not sure if logged out users can see phone numbers or not, however.

They can which actually hurts providers. I'm sure the majority of game players are people without accounts on there. They already have an option on there for providers to show or hide their phone number to everyone. But I think they could easily have an option for them to show their number to either everyone, only members, or only premium members.

I'm sure that hiding phone numbers for nonmembers would cut down on time wasters/harassment, but it would also cut down on business.
