novels by providers?

I recently started reading Hawk Mountain by Conner Habib and I'm really enjoying the way Habib depicts the complicated emotional/sexual dynamics among men. So it got me to wondering...

Are there other notable novels by gents who've spent time as sex workers?
I've read John Rechy and have read novels, short stories and plays "about" hustlers, gigolos and rentboys. But if any of you have leads on others write BY (but not necessarily ABOUT) male sex workers, I'd love to have the suggestions.

Based on your post @RyanDean I now have a copy of Hawk Mountain to read. Many reviews talk about how depressing the novel is, so I am curious as to how I will like it.

Hawk Mountain is indeed very well written. I liked much of it. But the travails of the main character, Todd, are a bit hard to take. It definitely is intense. Perhaps its a tale of the hardships of staying in the closet. A lot of damage gets done.

@RyanDeanyou listed this under "novels by providers." Is Conner Habib a provider? I also notice that the copyright is held by

Andre Khalil. Is that the author's real name?

Christopher Daniel's wrote a memoir of "Money's on the dresser" it's been a while since I read it.  Covers the escort life in Vegas in the early 2000s-2010s.  It was an easy enjoyable read, but I can't remember any deep insights from it.

I wasn't aware of this, thank you.  Look forward to reading it.

Conner Habib was his nom-de-porn, which he has continued to use for his post-porn career (writing, podcasting, etc). And I definitely recall him running an on/off-again ad back in the days of Rentboy. Dunno about the legal name.

Andre Khalil and Conner Habib are the same person.

For those interested in memoirs (not just novels) by providers, there's also David-SF's Every Grain of Sand, which was discussed on this Forum when it came out ... currently 4.8 (out of 5) stars based on 111 reviews on Amazon.

Straight porn star (etc), Danny Wilde, wrote a fictionalized memoir about his porn career, Body to Job, under his real name, Christopher Zeischegg. It was interesting to get a look at that industry. I liked his memoir enough to buy his novel, The Magicians. It's experimental fiction that seems to be a stream-of-consciousness narrative of drug addition. I abandoned it after 100 pages. Out of print now. Published by an indie house (Amphetamine Sulphate) that reminds me of Obelisk Press. He also wrote a horror novel about incest that is rumored to be semi-autobiographical.

It comes across as one long excuse for a bad review, TBH

Assuming the Position.  Ppl argue it's more a novel of addiction than hustling, but it's both.  Angry young man.  But good writer.  I LOVE the cover.

There are others, I'll get back to this thread.

I enjoyed this book too ;) And, yet... the cover is quite alluring.

Although it is not a novel, Hustlers, Escorts, Porn Stars: The Insider's Guide to Male Prostitution in America, was written by Matt Adams, who was a porn star himself. It is somewhat outdated, because it was published in 1999, before computers and smart phones had changed the business.

Reading that book in 1999 on a flight b/w LA and NYC made me decide to "moonlight" as an escort.

Hawk Mountain was quite a book.  I finished it today.  I wish there were ways of discussing it without spoiling it.  Before two weeks ago, I'd never heard of Conner Habib.  After I started his book, I emailed him and invited him to coffee and got a very nice reply back (he's living in Ireland).  I've also recently watched and liked his porn, and this week I've listened to and enjoyed many of his podcasts, the ones not dealing with Spirituality.

AGAINST EVERYONE with CONNER HABIB Against Everyone with Conner Habib is podcast featuring my conversations with countercultural figures, and...

I love that professional name.  His Mom is Irish, his dad Syrian.  Conner Habib.

I love that for once an escort wrote a book NOT about escorting.  That's like finding a Unicorn in a book written by a Dragon.  No, that's not right.  Anyway, good on him for thinking outside the box for his first book.

I don't suppose anyone here can remember when abouts he escorted?  I'd love to find his Rentboy ad on the Internet Archive, as well as his Daddy's Reviews, if he had any.

The book is a horror book.  It's a gay book.  But it's a horror book.  It's not a thriller. One of Conner's favorite films is Hellraiser, so be warned, things get dark. It is a very well-written book with characters I will think about for a long time.
