I also think technically the word "finances" is pretty broad. Like what if you simply hired two escorts as once. Wouldn't that technically count?

Well the novelty of this compared to just regular being illegal, is the level offense that it is being considered (similar to like MJ: here it’s mostly a misdemeanor only in the non-rec states but a big difference if it was a felony). 
 

Even with it being a public stunt, it could still obliterate the biz in that area if it continues to be touted as such. And if they are only talking about pimps trafficking multiple workers, they need to be more specific. But it’s not like they have sex worker’s best interest in mind when they wrote it. They pretty much threw the escort out, with the bath water.

I haven't seen any change in the number of providers or those traveling into the state; or my hiring since the new law.  I'm in San Antonio, sometimes Austin.  Just my two cents.

What it has changed for me is that I no longer hire providers who are new or not talked about here sufficiently to convince me they are legit.  Afraid of entrapment

I am not sure the information presented here on the change to Texas law was clear. The "2 prostitutes" info muddied the waters a bit I fear.  I don't think anyone should be lured into any sort of false sense of security due to cloudy waters.

So here goes: Texas actually has 5 separate sections on prostitution, each one specific to the act or actor. 

Sec 43.02 PROSTITUTION (ie. prostitutes) 3rd offense, felony

Sec 43.021 SOLICITATION OF PROSTITUTION (ie. John) 1st offense, felony since 09/01/21

Sec 43.03 PROMOTION OF PROSTITUTION (ie. Pimp, even with 1 prostitute) 1st offense, felony

Sec 43.031 ONLINE PROMOTION OF PROSTITUTION (ie. Rentboy?) 1st offense, felony

Sec 43.04 AGGRAVATED PROMOTION OF PROSTITUTION (ie Brothel Owner with 2 or more prostitutes) 1st offense, felony 

So obviously, the big change that occurred was making a 1st time offense for a John a felony. I think as far back as 2017, they changed the law to give prostitutes 2 misdemeanors before felony action started. I assume that explains why the number guys advertising services may not have decreased. 

  History repeats itself. So, if I were selling sex, I would be much more concerned with how I declared my income. Remember, both Capone and Rentboy were taken down because the government wasn't getting their cut!  

In regard to Rentmen's actors, anyone remember a few years back with a couple of traveling providers advertising their acting talent for clients to make a porn with them on Craigslist? It was a bit ingenious really. You could negotiate and outline every act, the time, and the cost worry free because the provider handed you a tape at the end of the session and you had engaged in the legal activity of making a porn.  Hell, if you got screwed out of a deposit by an "actor, " you could have even gone to court and filed an enforceable contracts case!

I have to believe the central idea behind Rentmen's actor classification is to never deal with the hassles of varied laws across the world. Agents / Websites who link actors and their employers are perfectly legal virtually everywhere on earth.

I guess the only way the numbers would change, is if the sites decided to remove Texas as an option for list of states to choose to advertise 😆 But it’s not an issue because most have already taken escort out of their names anyway
