Just bear in mind that you only have 24 hours to edit a posting.

Is that always the case?  I was trying to edit a post I created 19 hours ago and it wouldn't let me.  The only options that that appear with I click on the three dots are "report" or "share".

For your first few weeks as a member ('Newbie' under your avatar on the left of your post) you cannot edit what you've posted. After that you will be able to. You can report the post and ask the moderators to amend it, as can any member who wants to amend what they wrote after the 24 hours.

That's weird to me. I've been on message boards before where you have to wait 24 hours to make a post after you've joined to help prevent bots and spamming but the editing thing seems odd.

This is done for multiple reasons...  spam is one, but in addition it has been abused by people who have been banned from the site who come back and try to register additional accounts to circumvent their ban.   There is lots of "crap" ya'll don't see that the staff deal with on a regular basis.  :)
