Barcelona Hotels

The Axels are more expensive and has smaller rooms compared to equivalent hotels, but it is adults only, 18+ themed and it has what is considered one of the best gay bars in the world (which you cant go to without being a guest iirc). Really any hotel in Eixample is best: that area is colloquially known as "Gayxample," and is centrally located from all the touristy stuff, and the hustler sauna would be within walking distance. The only things that will require drives are the beach, the airport and some of the famous architecture. I'd go with whatever hotel is the best deal with the best rating at the booking dates based on online reviews. There are so many hotels in the area it's hard to single one out, and they're all pretty similar. Just note that most will card any rentboy you bring back.

@AndreG has described it well.

The small point I’d add is that Eixample is into two parts. It’s bisected by the Paseo de Gracia and you want to be in the Left part, ie West of the Paseo, to be close to the gay area and the sauna mentioned. Ideally you want a nice hotel in Eixample Left (or Esquerra de l’Eixample in Catalan) and above the Gran Via but below Diagonal.

IMO Axel is rather basic. It was fine 20 years ago when gay hotels were rare. But in truth, you’ll be fine @JMan in any good BCN hotel as the city is very gay-friendly. Remember hotel receptionists have seen it all before 😉

Before I bought an apartment when I was a regular visitor to BCN, I stayed in a variety of hotels. I was always with a younger male companion and we were always treated well. Sometimes we were fussed over because the hotel wanted to ensure a gay male couple felt well-treated.

I've only been to Barcelona once and we stayed at a best western (friend didn't want to stay at the Axel)   Wish we would have stayed there, we went to the bar and think it's gay men only and the bar was pretty nice and the hotel looked nice as well.   We were there in November but were told the pool is a lot of fun in season.

Small correction on my  post: you CAN visit the bar at the original Axel, which is considered a must-go, even if you are NOT staying there. As far as the other Axel (TWO), I'm not familiar with anything worth visiting.

there are many, telechapero is a good one for escorts. https://www.mileroticos.com/chaperos/barcelona/ is also good. If you are willing to go lower, pasion.com is good too, mostly less known escorts and masseurs

Oh crap I remember browsing that maybe 10 years ago when I was just out of college and planning a trip to Barcelona. Can't believe the site looks exactly the same, lol. I remember it was well-regarded back then.

Villa Emilia is another great choice near Thermas which is my favorite in that area

Two Hotel and SoHo are very similar in quality and you won't be dissapointed. SoHo would be my choice of the two though.

Thank you. For some reason Two Hotel  sounded less appealing for a mid 50s guy that doesn't want to play the hook up game.

I likevyhe young and masculine so I prefer to treat them. :D

I have the already booked Soho for the week if my birthday   I was surprised about the prices for tickets/hotel  as close as going to Mtrl - I usually spend my birthday with a regular. But now that he may no be around for that tme, because his high demand. I changed August to Montreal and November for Barcelona 😀

November and April are  my favorite times in Barcelona actually... Cooler temps for the city and not quite as touristy.

My birthday is in November and I'm normally there so you'll have a great time I'm sure.. Plenty of what you are looking for to be had... Enjoy!

Thanks.  I already collected some information from previous posts.  Like the site Hunqz, I already have a Romeo. And that site that is only in Spanish, cant remember the name.

I will report and update.

can't contribute (stayed in an airbnb in Poble Sec during my 2016 visit to BCN), but wanted to add a humorous aside that I was impressed that the directional signs at the airport were all in Catalan......then English................THEN Spanish.......

the loud 10pm outdoor pots-and-pans rattling one evening was also cool......Solidaritat Catalana per la Independència

great place.....

I've thought that the Euro was over-valued for many years.  I think parity with the dollar is about right where it should be.  I also see a trip to Europe in my future later in the year.

BTW the British pound has also lost a lot of value recently which makes the UK cheaper for Americans.

I can't believe how inexpensive hotels are in Madrid and Barcelona this October/November for the US Dollar. Some amazing deals to be found.

I know, I am shocked. I booked my Barcelona hotel for 2 weeks

I paid more for a 3 nights weekend in Mtrl  for last week of August before Memorial weekend o.o.

Its been falling since Brexit fiasco. I wonder if that's curtailed some British tourism and opened up vacancies ?
