I once got a particularly unpleasant STI from a guy I was seeing somewhat regularly and was friendly with. When I phoned to tell him he was appalled and profusely apologetic. I communicated no anger, and in fact ended up trying to reassure him and make him feel better LOL. He kept asking if I was sure it was from him; as he was the only person I had been with for weeks before and after the arrival of the STI, the answer was a definite yes.

 

I confess I had hoped that the next time we were together he might offer a discount, or some extra time off the clock. It would have been a nice gesture to a regular customer, but he didn't. And I didn't ask.

 

Been doing this many, many years now. I've gotten STIs from clients, but only recently have I ever passed an STI to a client. I was mortified. He was actually very understanding... I wish there were better solutions to STIs. Prophylactics, like PrEP for gonorrhea/chlamydia would be a game-changer. Ah well, whatever.

 

Edit: I have a poor habit of forgetting to make a point until I edit my posts. The point I meant to bring up was that people just need to be honest and communicative. Catching an STD is, in most cases, just like catching a cold. It's hard for you to pick up whether you have it until you're already presenting symptoms, and there's no way you'd purposefully catch the STD, so you just have to assume that other people are also like that and that if they spread it to you that it wasn't in malice, but from being unaware.

No I don't have sex with people that have herpes because I don't sleep around and ask people about their status. If they do not know , I don't sleep with them simple or I inspect their mouth and genital area discreetly or if I am still still worry , use condom for oral but that rarely happen. I remember the week after that encounter in 2014, I developed a cold sore. About a week after that encounter, there was a sore on my bottom lip. The person I was staying with at the time kept insisting its not, its just a canker sore. Something happened during that time that led to me getting on PEP for my protection. While getting checked out, the doctor who was getting my blood tested took a look at the store and said yes, that's likely herpes.

 

Fast forward five years later when I did a follow up STD checkup and brought it up with my physician; she said a lot of people have it here anyway, so its probably you would have been exposed long ago. She said I could get tested for it, but its expensive and just not worth it anyway and unless you are stressed, it won't aggravate it.

 

A year later, I had to do an important medical which includes a test for Herpes, so, this would have been a good opportunity to find out if after 5 years I had it or not. The doctor went through all the tests they performed and we finally came to Herpes and it came out negative. Taking into consideration my sexual history, I was kinda surprised. Of course, I have had a few encounters since, so I really don't know.

I don't really get the fuss about herpes. If you are a sexually active adult, just assume you already have it. A whopping 75 to 90% of those who carry the virus do not even show symptoms but can still pass it on. And those in the minority who does show symptoms, overtime it'll happen less and less.
