Like clockwork, this is discussed here about every two weeks.

Same discussion, back and forth. Nothing new revealed about the inner-psyche of the tattooed.

People get ink because they choose to: It's just that simple.

You might not understand it, accept it or approve, but that's not really the point. I personally don't have or want ink on my body, but I'd never judge those who do.

I've got four tattoos and each are pretty large. I waited until I was in my 40s and could afford good ones. Each one is a work of art and I still enjoy seeing them. I don't regret getting them but I'm glad I waited. I also like seeing tattoos on the guys I hire because it's a great way to break the ice, get him out of his clothes and check out his body!

I turned 72 today and still can’t understand the obsession with tattoos. Why would anyone with a beautiful physique mar his body with ink? I guess I’m showing my age.

Younger people like/don’t like ink older people like/don’t like ink, age old debate, it’s their bodies. I like and have hired guys heavily tatted and guys with not one tattoo, it’s more than their physiques that makes a connection, just be more open minded

I have tended to shy away from hiring guys with heavy tattoos, the kind that would show even when in street clothes. It would inhibit my taking them to fancy hotels or restaurants (not that that is in prospect any time soon), Since I have a pretty conventional appearance for an older gentleman, a husky tattooed companion by my side would make me pretty uncomfortable. I‘m not the type who wants people staring at me. I certainly don’t have the makings of a celebrity who adores the limelight.

I like hanging with guys who have a small, tasteful teardrop tattoo next to their left eye.... ;)

I have had a couple great experiences “breaking the ice” by asking about someone’s tattoos. (I have none) one night in Key West at a dockside bar a young guy who was crew on one of the daytime tourist boats loved showing them off, me asking the story behind them, him hinting there were more I couldn’t see in public, led to a very low key fun evening. I’m sure the alcohol/bar scene greased the comfort skids.

My teen desires to have a tattoo vanished when my radical catholic family threatened to disown me.

Except for face/neck tattoos, I don't judge because there are valid reasons why people get tattoos.

The truth is that hiring managers, especially in the corporate world, still see visible tattoos with skeptical eyes.

I just realized that I tend to hire guys with no tattoos or very discreet ones. I suppose you could blame my upbringing.

Who'd say that even when escorting, having many tattoos could make you lose some 'jobs'?

Well, happy belated!

Less popular in the past maybe, but I figured quite a few Vietnam veterans in your age group came back with tattoos. Military ink has always looked good to me.

So you take escorts to dinner NOT to have people stare at you?

According to my dad and grandmother, Great-Uncle Kaz had several tattoos as did my grandfather. Gramma and Grampa would be 123, so Uncle Kaz would probably be 110 or so.

In other words, tattoos ain't nuthun' new.

What's new is a large fraction of young people(34% of 18-29yos) having them, and many having very large ones. Some look good, but for the most part I find they only look really good on people who are so achingly beautiful to begin with that it seems sinful to alter them...

What I find bizarre are the people who get star tattoos that look like a first grade teacher went to town on them with her rubber stamp. Like, why?

This guy is flat out misusing statistics when he says tattoo parlors are safer than the dentist. Orders of magnitude more trips to the dentist than trips to the tattoo parlor are taken each year. If they were exactly the same risk the number of dental-related hepatitis cases would be many, many more than 4 times higher than those from tattoo parlors.

My peeve is with guys who either cover everywhere with tattoos or have them on their faces. Some tattoos on some guys work, some don't. As far as being in public, I don't think tattoos are a red flag that the guy is an escort, and certainly not more than an older man dining with a man three or more decades his junior (although some will assume the younger man is a nephew, son or grandson). Mostly, I suspect, unless your dinner companion is making a scene, no one is really paying attention to you other than your server(s).

I also would not hire anyone that would draw attention to me while in public. Just not my cup of ?...

I wouldn’t make the comparison anyway. I’ve never heard of someone dying in a tattoo parlour but have heard of cases of people dying in the dentist’s chair. Usually associated with anaesthetics.

Once upon a time tattoos where very much a navy thing. Those times are now long gone. Ten or fifteen years ago the clean cut, gym body all American look was the in thing for escorts. Now days many escorts favor the heavy bearded, beefy, tattooed look. Styles change and they will continue to change. I have learned to deal with what I consider a reasonable number of, what I consider attractive, tattoos and well trimmed beards. However, I find myself unable to deal with escorts sporting long unkept beards or ones sporting the beefy look. All of these things are a matter a personal preference. Just think how awful it would be if we were all trying to hire the same type of guys. As far as I'm concerned viva la difference!
