Hey Daddies!

I'm a masseur, escort, and amateur pornstar and I'm working on a rebrand, and I NEED YOU!

I used to be @verslildevil and all my content is currently on Twitter and Justfor.Fans. I just started imagining producing my own content more seriously, and committing to growing a fan base that will support me full time, and something more in line with my sexual/emotional proclivities. Along that line, I'm working on a new brand: DaddyBoy Josh. On my Instagram, I already started the transition, and I need you Daddys to help me become a real success. I read your feedback about pricing and what I offer, and LOVE the opportunities to improve my business and interpersonal skills. I will likely keep the side hustle as a bodyworker and sex-educator when the right opportunity presents itself (Don't judge my massage website just yet!) but I believe that this extra-isolated time presents a great opportunity to take the connection onto subscription videos for anyone who wants to connect but is playing it safe, like me. Here's where you come in:

First, I need to know what platform to launch this new brand. Which do you prefer: Just For Fans or Only Fans? WHO HAS MORE MEMBERS WILLING TO SUBSCRIBE TO DADDYSBOYJOSH? Please vote on the poll below!

Second, I need to know what kind of content you want to see. On my Justfor.Fans page, I have tons of super-explicit content, and I'm hearing that it can be kind of a turn-off or intimidating. If you have a minute, you can sign up for two free weeks with the promo code "BusinessBoy" to see what I'm talking about. Obviously there is a lot of room for improvement with regularity, and I'll get to that next. But I also need to hear about what you personally would like to see me post about, and any other suggestions you have regarding what I currently have. As part of this rebranding, I may use the best of these videos if they fit my weekly theme, so what works for you? What really doesn't work?

I'm committing to posting daily nude pictures/videos all in a theme. I'll post one longer solo-sex video a week, and a how-to video at least monthly. I know some things about some stuff—like gardening, cooking, and sex—and I want the challenge of getting clear about what I know and don't know. Additionally, I'll offer duo videos or group scenes with harder-core/fetish stuff for a little extra $, so there is a bit of a veil between the twitter-masses and my deepest desires-made-bare.

I would be so grateful if you can comment with things you would like to see me use as a theme. I already have ideas like camping, religion, and daily hygiene for themes, but I need your creativity. What do Daddies teach boys like me about being a man? Let me know what you want to see in the comments below, and then stay tuned so I can show you what I learn.

I wish I could give you better advice, but I still don't really know the real difference between Only Fans and Just For Fans, so I can't offer much advice on how to market on those sites. I'm more of a "hire a guy in real life" type of client, and wish I'd taken the opportunity to see you when you were based out of NYC. My main issue with those fans sites is that they don't provide a real preview of the guy's page before subscribing, so I can't be sure if I'd even get much value out of it without knowing whether the page offers what I like.

I signed up for one of those Fans pages (don't remember which site, at this point) several months ago pre-pandemic just to support one of the strippers I used to get lapdances from at the Adonis Lounge here in NYC. I didn't find it to be all that interesting, but that might be because he was still working the kinks out on his page (the guy's a total sweetheart, although he's straight, so that might've been part of my issue with it).

Take the following advice with a grain of salt, given my limited experience with those forms of media. But, I'd personally like the more explicit content, with videos of hot scenes (either solo or with other hot guys), and I find it strange that guys would be intimidated by that. Tutorials on hygiene, sex tips, and even healthy eating/cooking I'd find valuable as well. Maybe you could even have different subscription models allowing for separate access to explicit content and tutorial content. Just my 2 cents...

I like your Just for fans site. I actually have subscribed to it off an on (I usually only subscribe to two to three guys at a time). I think the content on there is hot. Definitely you could do some interesting tutorials or videos. Maybe talk a bit about gardening, culture, prepping for fun. It really could be anything. I think the explicit stuff is going to be your bread and butter, but I can also see mixing in some other content so you're not having to constantly produce that.

Personally I've always liked the collaborations you've done with many guys that I like and even have been with like Sherman Maus and Boulevard Man. All of that stuff I fine very hot.

Thanks for all that you do. I once tried to meet up with you but ended up not working. Hope we can cross paths sometime in the future.

I’ve enjoyed other Justfor.Fans sites and I think your ideas and offerings are good ones. However, I (and I assume many others) aren’t looking to be anyone’s Daddy and I think your suggested brand name is counterproductive. When I spent time with you in Seattle it was a good experience between two guys. Seems to me some potential (and potentially forever grateful) clients might assume from the name that you prefer a Daddy relationship or fantasy and look elsewhere. Also, for those who will look for reviews of you on Daddy’s Reviews, they won’t find you under the brand name. It’ll be under Josh, as it is now. You should come to Seattle and we can discuss it in more detail. ?

Wow, I'm so flattered by your feedback! I know this site is for guys who like to meet "in the flesh" more than digitally, but I wonder if the pandemic is changing that for any of y'all. Like because meeting in person is higher risk at the moment, are you seeking to connect on FaceTime calls?

My main issue with those fans sites is that they don't provide a real preview of the guy's page before subscribing, so I can't be sure if I'd even get much value out of it without knowing whether the page offers what I like.

Yeah, I think the key is that many of us are posting teaser videos on Twitter and Safe For Work content on Instagram, and that's just not where many of our best clients are looking for us. That said, there are thousands of users on those platforms that are interested in paying a monthly fee for the window into my life through my iPhone. I'm still trying to figure out how to solve this discrepancy.

I signed up for one of those Fans pages (don't remember which site, at this point) several months ago pre-pandemic just to support one of the strippers I used to get lapdances from at the Adonis Lounge here in NYC.

Have you seen the Adonis Lounge webcam groupchats? I'll be doing their Ask Me Anything this Friday night if you want to check it out. I hope to field some questions about rebranding, the transition to online interaction, and buttstuff in general, so it could be fun for everyone. I know Coolwave35 on here knows something about how to get into the viewership on Adonis Cam Shows, and this would be a great intro if you are willing to work through some tech newness.

I'm so glad to hear that you are into the content. I do think I'll make lots off of the more extreme sex videos, and I like Reno Gold's model: He has a paid monthly subscription for solo videos and daily content, and advertises to these monthly subscribers for his more extreme videos, which cost extra. Some people dislike this model, as many may have thought they should have access to this with his $15/mo subscription. However, the way he talks about it is that his subscribers get to "customize their experience" by purchasing access only to the videos they want to pay extra for, instead of him charging everyone $30/mo or something obscene like that.

Maus and Terry are really good at what they do. I'd love to meet you. Let's keep trying!

Thanks for your candor, StLouisOct. I'm curious if changing it to "DaddyBoy Josh" changes that for you. Like I'm kind of a daddy kind of a boy? Can you help me think of a name that works with my look? Just spitballing here, so no wrong answers. I was thinking I kind of look like a Jonah FWIW...Of course sticking with VersLilDevil is still an option, and keeps the momentum I have built behind that persona, but I fear that that is even clunkier than DaddyBoy...

And as always, lets meet!!!

But now I'm stressed thinking of a name to publish under other than DaddyBoy. I really can't see Verslildevil making 100k/year on OnlyFans, but I feel like I should maybe keep Josh because everyone knows me as Josh. It's going to be a hard pivot on Twitter, but I think I can make it work. My best idea right now is Jonah Slakes for the new persona. Reasons:

?VersLilDevil throws off people who want to think of themselves as associating with good people

?DaddyBoyJosh reminds people about age dynamics which alienates a good portion

?Jonah sounds youthful

? Jonah and the Whale is a story from the Bible

?Jonah gets swallowed by a whale, which gives an image of me as petite, which I am.

?The story is watery which segues directly into the Surname

?Slakes means quenching thirst

?Slakes sounds slippery

?I can subtly hint at watersports, sweaty times, slime, slurping, and all those slithery words

?Overall image is of fountain of youth and fixing the dryness, which is a deeply personal life theme

WHAT DO YOU THINK!?! Should I keep Joshua for consistency? Will I throw off escorting clients that know me as Joshua Mann, or will you be able to find me no matter if I change my name?

I'd compromise and go with Joshua Slakes. As you mentioned, DaddyBoyJosh does carry the age dynamics plus there are plenty of guys who don't think of themselves as "daddy" and/or do not get into "daddy/son" play. "DaddyBoy" anything also has a short shelf life. At some point you will age out of that and then what? Re-brand AGAIN?

My concern with Jonah is two-fold: First, it breaks from your existing name Joshua. Second, Jonah is popular now but will wane in the next few years. Joshua is a classic name but is different than John or Bill or some such.

The problem with these fan sites is there is only so much you can do & they become repetitious. Eventually people lose interest & stop subscribing. .Also it is really hard to find people you are interested in seeing if you only see a tiny picture next to their name. The few people I subscribed to I knew who they were so that’s how I found them. I’m sure there are others out there that I would like to see (for at least a week) but don’t know who they are or what they actually look like until I subscribe. Maybe if you have a couple of free videos on the top of your page you will get more traffic.

I really appreciate the advice, rvwnsd. You're right, breaking a brand is bad for business, and it's a big risk. Unfortunately, I took the plunge and changed my name on Instagram to Jonah Slakes. I think I'll silo Instagram and Onlyfans and continue to maintain Twitter and RentMen and JustForFans until I gain a larger following as Jonah on OF and Instagram. Then I can change my name on Twitter and rely on being known more broadly as Jonah. I have two reasons for this. First, I think the Instagram and OnlyFans audience is more easily turned off by my extreme content and escorting in general. I think they are aspirational, and more class oriented. Secondly, JoshSlakes is a tongue twister, and Jonah Slakes rolls off the tongue a little better. I'll go by Josh with my escorting clients unless they find me on OnlyFans, and then I can be more tame for those appointments, and leave the huge dildos at home haha

This is a great idea. I need to have a flirty intro video on my new OnlyFans that will be available to convince people why they should subscribe; the elevator sales pitch...

This is a fun thread and you're really hot, I think we chatted on RM a couple of years ago. I know a lot of guys are moving over to JustFF from OnlyF for a number of reasons, mostly it's easier to create content. Not sure if there's a difference in the cut they take so that could be a motivating factor as well.

As for branding I'd skip the daddy thing like everyone said, to polarizing. I like OtterJosh, lol. Slakes isn't doing it for me. I get the intention but it just doesn't grab you. I'd look at the names of popular porn stars and see what pops vs what doesn't. I have a friend who auditioned and got picked up by FabScout but chose the worst name and wound up not getting any gigs and eventually left the business. His pics on the site weren't very flattering either so I'm sure that didn't help.

Good luck and let us know where you wind up, I'll subscribe. And if you ever make it to Columbus I'd hire you in a heartbeat, you're 100% my type!

Guys! I'm so excited to tell you that I posted my first big promo on my OnlyFans page! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your feedback. The trailer for the promo video is the first thing you see on this page, if you want a taste. Thanks again!!!

I don't know if I would've gotten the Jonah Slakes thing at first, but the Quench Your Thirst tagline with the whales' blowholes is a good touch. Makes that connection more obvious.

Lazarus, How did I miss your thoughtful reply! I have some plans to do themed weeks on OnlyFans to keep it interesting. Don't let the cat out of the bag, but next week is PoolBoy Week, and I'm already making some fun videos giving a glimpse into the sweaty relaxed work that goes into making poolside sex so clean and carefree. We just had an orgy at the pool here in Southampton that was really sexy, but the timing was off as it happened at night. Luckily I followed one of the guys back to his pool with a cameraman the next day and we got some SUPER HOT footage that should make for a polished 15min scene to culminate the week with ?

I think the key to having people feel good about subscribing without having met me is to give a real taste for who I am and the quality of my content on other social media like twitter and instagram. Incidentally, tonight there's a live cam show with a couple other models that should give me another place to showcase my style and plug the full list of where people can see more. Here's a link to rsvp to the free cam show tonight at 11pm eastern. Fill out the form and they should be able to get you into the Zoom chat still. If not, reach out to me and I'll try to hook it up.

Jonah,

I actually like the name Jonah Slakes. It seems to roll off the tongue easily. Did I read that your home base is Las Vegas, or did I make that up? Do you ever find yourself in Palm Springs?

I have subscribed to a few guys on OF and one on JFF. I strongly prefer OF. In all but one case, I was drawn to the subscription via Twitter. So, I agree with your marketing plan. First time specials are also very attractive. Just think them through. One offered $5 for 1 week, when his entire month subscription was $6.99!

The main reason I have left a subscription is because of stale content. Some guys only add a pic or video once every week or two. That’s not really cost effective for the subscribers. Try to update your content often, if not daily. That way the user is constantly entertained. Also, try to start a dialogue with the user. Ask a question or two. It may get overwhelming, but the message center is a great place to make tips. The link is front and center when you are writing a message.

Good luck! You are definitely on the right track. Call me when you are in or near Palm Springs!

There's a REALLY Popular video of me getting fucked in Vegas, so that's probably where you got that from. (I'm actually giving away a more polished edit of that scene as a thank you to 6mo subscribers on my OnlyFans, if that is of interest.) I'm almost never in PS, but I would love to change that. It seems like a great spot to film, and I look great sweaty. I'm also looking for reasons not to spend the winter in Michigan or NYC ???

I really like your pricing recommendations. It's a slow grow, but at this point I'm afraid of alienating the almost 20 subscribers I already have by suddenly offering a free month for first time subscribers, as I think they will be my core. You've already seen my JustForFans with the promo code in the original message of this thread, and you can see my wheels turning for the coming weeks of themed content on my OnlyFans page, so I think you have what you need to make a decision. I'm very committed to daily content, weekly themes, and monthly longer scenes, especially once I have the following to attract other talent with big followings. I think I'm doing a good job of engaging with users, so far, but I love the idea of asking a question or two. What would you as a user be comfortable sharing with me?

I'm happy to offer an extra perk for daddies from this site as a thank you for helping me make my brand strong and engaging. Once you subscribe, just message me with your username on this forum, and I'm happy give you a video that fits your specific tastes. Stay tuned this coming week for my first theme week.

Suggest posting the JFF vs OnlyFans question in the Ask An Escort forum. I think JFF is "it" and OnlyFans is "was".

Only comment on your brand is suggest DaddysBoyJosh instead of DaddyBoyJosh - the extra letter meakes the reference clear and unambiguous.

Good luck!

BTW Ginger loving Daddy here, come to Boston!

Additionally, I'll offer duo videos or group scenes with harder-core/fetish stuff for a little extra $, so there is a bit of a veil between the twitter-masses and my deepest desires-made-bare.

I was interested up until this point. In the past I had no problem subscribing to Onlyfans but I've been burned so many times by pay-per-view extortion (is really the word for it) on that platform that any hint of it is a complete and utter instant turn-off to me.

Like I said in another thread: imagine paying a full Netflix subscription but all you get to see for that price are trailers. If you actually want to see the show itself, you have to pay for it on a per show basis on top of your subscription? No thank you.

Sure, it allows you to milk your audience absolutely dry for every single last penny (like Disney is now doing with Disney+ and the release of Mulan) and there are tons of subscribers willingly paying for this, given that this business model has absolutely exploded in the last year and a half. But for me, no. It has led me to stop subscribing to any and all Onlyfans accounts completely.

And aren't the Twitter masses your audience? If you want to bring in the sort of money you're dreaming off, you have to have a bigger audience. I feel like your statement is a bit judgemental.

Yeah, I think the key is that many of us are posting teaser videos on Twitter and Safe For Work content on Instagram, and that's just not where many of our best clients are looking for us.

Where are you getting this info from? I can only speak for myself but almost every single Onlyfans I've subscribed to (and it's been many!) was either because the guy had super hot pics on his Instagram or Twitter and had the link to his Onlyfans prominently displayed on those profiles.

I like Reno Gold's model: He has a paid monthly subscription for solo videos and daily content, and advertises to these monthly subscribers for his more extreme videos, which cost extra. Some people dislike this model, as many may have thought they should have access to this with his $15/mo subscription. However, the way he talks about it is that his subscribers get to "customize their experience" by purchasing access only to the videos they want to pay extra for, instead of him charging everyone $30/mo or something obscene like that.

I really dislike this model and his "It allows people to customize their experience" just reeks of marketing sales-person speak to me. But hey, it's absolutely working for him! I do think part of Reno Gold's success can also be attributed to his engagement with his fans: he really makes them feel they are a part of his whole life, not just the sex part. And this is absolute catnip for a lot of people. BUT! He posts those "slice-of-life" videos for free on his Youtube channel. A paywall for PG-level slice-of-life content would be a very hard sell. Having said that: he's a shrewd business person, he also monetizes his fans desire to interact with him. On his Onlyfans page, for instance, it clearly states that he only responds to DMs on his Onlyfans account (DMs on all his other social accounts go unanswered) and that DMs with tips attached get a higher priority. Even his merchandise is only available to buy if you already have an active subscription to his Onlyfans. Basically, he monetizes everything, hahaha. Very good business practice of course, because it allows to diversify.

There's a REALLY Popular video of me getting fucked in Vegas, so that's probably where you got that from. (I'm actually giving away a more polished edit of that scene as a thank you to 6mo subscribers on my OnlyFans, if that is of interest.)

I don't understand this logic. You think I'm going to keep subscribing for 6 months just for the promise of better content in the future? I know a lot of subscribers actually do just that but it doesn't work for me. Hit me with your best content and then say "You like this? Well than you're gonna love this!" If I don't like the content you're posting now (which, if I'm reading what you said correctly, would be solo jerk-off vids and dick pics which I can find everywhere else for free), why would I stay subscribed just to finally see something good/better/more produced? What makes you special out of the hundreds of guys who've been opening Onlyfans left and right since the pandemic hit? (I'm not being facetious, this is a genuine marketing and branding question you have to answer for yourself if you don't want to get lost in the literally thousands upon thousands of faceless dicks, holes and six-pack-abs that are flooding these platforms).

There's a couple of ways to make a lot of money on these platforms: perpetually tease and overcharge for actual content or produce extremely good content at a reasonable price-point (like Griffin Barrows does). The former will definitely get you the money and get you the money faster but a lot of one-time subscribers while the latter, coupled with building a good relationship with your fans, will build a core audience of "superfans" that will, in the long term, throw money at you hand over fist.
