Although I'm not usually a fan of tattoos as they often seem random & uncoordinated. However occasionally they can be kind of a work of art & quite attractive.

I recall the one on the back of retired porn actor JD Phoenix (maybe someone more tech savvy than me can post a pic). He has resisted adding further ink & allowed the one tattoo to be a unique focus.

All my tattoos tell a story and are a big part of me. I love the one on my calf and my two shoulder pieces each have a story behind them and a lot of memories.

If there was ever an example of someone who was close to flawless with just one tattoo who took it to the extreme (and not In a good way) it’s Michael Hoffman, who was the subject of the very first post in...

He has a collage of random cartoonish tattoos (I think he has Popeye on his thigh) all over his body.

I can’t say tattoos are a deal breaker for me. It depends on the guy. Guys with shoulders like boulders and arms like pythons can rock tattoos and it makes them look even hotter, however, face and neck tattoos are not appealing to me at all, regardless of who’s wearing them.

...

I was talking to my boss one day and told her how much I hated tattoos. She pulled down her blouse and exposed part of one breast showing a dark stain. This was the result of 4 laser treatments to remove a tattoo she seriously regretted.

You must have an unusual relationship with your boss: first, to be telling her about your hatred for tattoos. Second, and more curiously, having her expose part of her breast to you. That's something that could get you in hot water with HR in most work environments...

My post leaves me wide open to this reply and I was expecting something like it. I can’t remember the context in which I brought up the subject of tattoos but such is my pathological hatred of them it doesn’t take much for me to vent my spleen on the subject. Her reaction surprised me too but it only illustrates her profound regret. Although we have never discussed it, after about 8 years she realised she was perfectly safe in my presence, if you know what I mean.

So interesting that you brought up Christian Wilde. When I saw this thread, I immediately thought of him, since I have a strange lust for him, despite his not being anything I'd really describe as my type, especially with the tattoos. I don't know what it is about him that has such an effect on me. Maybe it's the eyes. He's one of many men that really pushes my buttons for some reason, although he doesn't at all look like most other men who turn me on. Another man I mysteriously obsess over is Joe Wicks. I have no idea why he turns me on so much. He looks like a nerd with rat's nest hair. But his pictures always get me to orgasm. Again, there are a lot of men who I would describe as more handsome. But he seems to have some strange spell on me.

I really appreciate your response, because I'd love to know more about the thought process of getting the tattoos. When you say that they tell a story, is it more that you like to look at them yourself and relive the story? Or is it that you want other people to admire them and ask you about the story behind them, as a conversation piece? Did you consider other ways of relaying your story?

The disappointment for me is only when a guy has one or none and I find him attractive, and then he turns into a canvas with them. From social experience, tattoo guys are way more "I don't really give a fuck what people think" than non-tattoo folk. I prefer guys that give a fuck.

Regrettably its just not guys. At the gym I go to it never ceases to amaze me at the young women with so called “sleeve” tattoos and all over their backs. What they think their going to look like in their 40’s,50’s, 60’s and beyond I do not know.

Puts me in mind of the great song from Pal Joey: Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered

A group from work played paintball one night. The next day, one of the women who'd played pulled up her skirt to show me the big bruise she had on her right hip. :-)

Work social events can always get weird! Just out of college I showed up at the company picnic shirtless (it was July and I was a dumb naive pup) and eventually a pic showed up on the break room bulletin board. Then years later we had a summer cookout at another company and I got cornered by a couple of my co-worker's wives who asked me to take off my tank top to see my nipple piercing. Yes it was awkward but not as bad as the co-worker's wife, who knew I was bi/gay, delicately asked if I knew of any lesbians she could set up a three-way with.

This is a perennial thread topic. The funny thing is that each new thread is just a rehash of the previous threads. Some like tattoos, others hate them and others are indifferent. I'm mystified that it keeps coming up.

That lends the topic a significance it doesn't deserve.

Well it was a little relevant to me and it may not be significant to you but last I checked there were quite a few member on this board and a lot of them have in interest in having a conversation about it.

I ran across a recent picture of a porn star with tattoos that were not attractive to me and I wanted others opinions.

Yer preachin' to the choir, son. I'm covered with tats. It's one of those things that only another person with tats understands. It's pointless to try to explain it to someone who doesn't have them. So I don't even try.

You will see after you've read a few threads about tats on this forum how pointless they are. In the meantime, enjoy your tats, but don't expect to change anybody's mind about them.

Pro: It can lift the self-steem of the insecure and depending on the tattoo can, at least visually, increase “perceived masculinity”. A good boost for a 1 time fantasy as in general I also don’t like men with tattoos.

Con: It doesn’t age gracefully and there is no full research or certainty on the kind (brand) of inks that will lead to develop skin cancer or other tattoo related diseases. I even doubt most people even think of this when seated and about to receive the first pinch.

Well, it's rather disappointing that only response we can get from some who has them is a statement that it's "pointless" to try to explain it. Why do something permanent that you yourself can't explain? I, for one, would honestly like to know the rationale for getting tattoos which aren't necessary for survival/identity with certain groups (i.e. prison gangs, primitive indigenous tribes, etc.). Why can an honest question only be "answered" by defensive non-answers?

You seem to think that someone who has tattoos owes you an explanation for having them and if he doesn't provide one he's being defensive. It's more likely that he just doesn't feel a need to be understood by you.

I haven't the slightest notion that anyone "owes" me an explanation as to why he has a tattoo. I just find it interesting that nowhere have I ever seen anyone explain the rationale, and that, even in a somewhat anonymous and non-threatening environment, no one seems to want to provide such an explanation (and, in fact, provides testy non-responses).
