The reason I ask is that a European friend told me that the saunas are nearly empty over there. No country specifically, just in general.

In some ways the impacts could be positive. I took a plane to Chicago this weekend and it was maybe a third full at best. Booked a last-minute 4-star hotel on Michigan Avenue for only $68 a night. It actually has one of the best hotel gyms I've seen. I could definitely see costs going down for traveling escorts in the next few months. Though of course, best not travel to any countries with outbreaks as per the CDC instructions.

I'm in a few loyalty programs, and got an email the other day for the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea, Maui. Every 5th night free. It got me thinking that deals can be had now. I might take a look at this, or other hotels out there, or see if there are deals on redeeming points/or cheap rates in beach areas. Thinking of Miami Beach, or Marco Island if don't go to Maui.

As you all know, I am mostly a travel companion and a vast majority of my clients retain my services for such thing. Since travel is down, cancellations everywhere and it has been a massive impact on my business model. It is OK, I switched to cups of noodles and I use a lot less toothpaste to make up for the losses... ;)

Cancelling events, large-small-and in-between, are now snowballing on every continent and the economic impact will be huge.

I smell a global recession.

How does what seemingly originated in Wuhan spread so quickly over the planet without being super contagious?

The tiny Vatican announced it's first case while northern Italy locks down. Stanford University cancelled in-person classes for the term. All of Japan's schools are closed thru March. Two Iranian political leaders actually died. Petri-dish Cruise ships? South Korean streets are eerily empty. SXSW in Austin is a no. Next stop: India.

This could spiral out of control very quickly. Or not. No one knows. I'd be cautious at best.

One of my escorts was scheduled to go to Greece with a client. They both agreed it would be best to cancel.

My go-to guy was going to travel to Italy next week and he changed his plans. What I was wondering is if people are getting a voucher for later travel...

I am very concerned about my diminishing 401K and retirement plan. I lost 20k last week....If this continues I need to make real plans to protect my income.

Tell me what protection you will be taking. My stock mutual fund is way down, my CD is now paying 0.6%

A friend is my manager at a private equity firm...He is moving my investments away from worldwide to US based...more emphasis on returns and less on growth...He has done very well for me in the last 20 years...I have the utmost trust in him...

I was planning on going to the Adonis nude party but decided not to specifically because of covid. I am in very good health and not particularly worried that it would kill me. I do however have friends and family that are not in the best health and given the long incubation period I would be very worried about passing it along to them before I even realized I had it.

Having said that though, I am going to work everyday and I went to Costco earlier this week with several hundred other shoppers so maybe I am kidding myself.

EXACTLY! It all depends on how you put this into a perspective. You may decide not to go to an Adonis nude party (sorry, unsure how many people attend such event), yet you go to Costco and work. I am sure there aren't a whole lot more people at the Adonis party than at Costco + work, hence the chances of exposure is probably the same (or even worse) with the latter. It is interesting how people's decisions when it comes to altering habits work....

Business as usual, for the most part. Maybe a couple of cancellations in the last couple of weeks have been concerned clients... really can’t go wrong with showering and constantly washing hands.

While, the secrecy with which the Chinese government first treated the virus was probably unhelpful, from what I have seen the real problem has been the unusually long period for this virus where people are contagious but asymptomatic, up to 3 weeks I think. It pretty much made any containment attempts pointless since they had no idea how far it had already spread.

From what I have heard it is between 2 days to 14 days.

Probably Las Vegas right now is the worst place to be based when you are a male companion to be honest. 99% of my clients are VISITORS (who are now cancelling on a global scale as you stated), I just talked to someone in the hotel industry here, the hotel had a SOLD-OUT situation a few days from now and due to corporate cancellations they are going to operate a little above 10% occupancy.

So now me, as a traveling escort I can't really take trips with clients AND clients are not coming to me either :-D Anyway, things will get better... ;-) Since most of these corporate conventions aren't happening now, they will be all moved to the summer and since that's usually a dead period for Vegas, it will result in a much busier summer here than normal. So at the end of the day, this issue will balance itself out in the long run.

My 2 cents...
