Last week I saw an otherwise-empty paper aisle in a store that had 3 4-packs of cheap single-ply Scott toilet paper no one would buy. I got them and gave them to each apartment I rent as "emergency" backups so they won't be tempted to flush anything else that might clog drain pipes.

To reinforce something I posted earlier, this is a thing. Plumbers here in Canberra are reporting an increase in blocked drains where people had flushed things like paper towels down the toilet. The only paper that is safe to flush is toilet paper. No tissues or paper towels. No 'flushable' wipes. Not even squares of Murdoch newspaper. (You might recall the line in the 'Honest Government' video posted in the forum, 'If you run short, Murdoch provides a range of bog roll replacement world-wide'.)

Why is it called "bog roll"?

A deconstructed version of the Rotterdam Philharmonic.

But it's in German. What the fuck?

Alle Menschen werden Brüder, wo dein sanfter Flügel weilt.

All people are brothers, where Your gentle wing lingers.

Couldn't be more spot on for the moment!

The only thing I cant find I need is hand santizer. I didn't buy anymore before this started since I don't horde and don't use a lot of it. The microbrewery next door to my house is now allowed to make it with their runoff alcohol and is offering 12 oz bottles so hopefully they still have some tonight, I'll just order dinner to go from there and pick up a bottle.

I see that costco is now not going to accept returns for things people are hording like TP, paper towels and disinfecting wipes and sprays.

Perhaps if the hoarders have too much, they could find some elderly shut-ins or families with not enough and give them to people who really need them.

Everything I've read is that soap is better, anyway. If that's an option. I think part of it is that the chemicals in the soap break down the things that bind the virus to our hands. (Someone who understands chemistry can explain that better for me.) And the pressure of the water pushing it off the hands helps, too.

It's very generous of Pornhub, but why did Pornhub have 50,000 surgical masks in the first place?

PS: the article says that Pornhub Premium is free for the next 30 days, but I just checked & it looks like they're offering just a free week for now.

I'd prefer to use soap and water, especially now that my hands are dried and cracking in a couple places and the alcohol in the hand sanitizer stings but I don't always have access to soap and water. The alcohol in the hand santizer also dries my skin out and I already have a problem with dry hands in cold weather.

I have plenty and WalMart is in every delivery getting more TP and huge $3 bottles of HS.

I have also gotten as much rubbing alcohol as I can and small spray bottles with caps. I place the bottles around doorknobs outside, in the car for handles, etc, in my pocket for grocery cart handles etc. and try to squirt first whatever I touch as much strange as possible. Also paper money. mail, and Amazon boxes. CV virus lives on cardboard up to 24 hours !.

I'm also pro-OdoBan spray as I've mentioned. Hand sanitizer is just another form of disinfectant but the hardest to find.

Soap works well because it's more effective at breaking the fatty protective wall around the virus. Once that wall is damaged the virus is no longer functional.

I see Amazon has it in stock now more reasonably. Lots of one star reviews but a lot of them are from people who are pissed they were price gouging before.

I'm really trying to avoid big box retailers like Walmart unless they bring back curbside delivery (which i think all stores should be required to close the store and only offer that service). I was able to get some at the brewery last night by my house but it's an 8 oz bottle and cant fit in my pants pocket but may still carry it and put on door knobs before I touch them, problem with this stuff is it's liquird and not gel, just alcohol and mineral oil but it was free so I can't complain.
