Coronavirus & escorting? Prospects?

Although it hasn't really hit the US yet, what are people's experiences and suggestions? I just came home from Europe early because of it hitting and am reluctant to suggest European friends come here to work, both because I see the market maybe dying and them not having health insurance in the US.

Depending on the still unknown length of the virus incubation period and depending on if a person during the virus incubation period is contagious, this could lead to a real slow down in escort hiring.

 

These unknowns need to be know before any health conscious buyer of escort services ventures into the hiring marketplace.

You have given your friends excellent advice. Until the Coronavirus is under control there is way too much uncertainty to properly gage the effects. Escorting is a very intimate experience and transmission could be way too easy between people who may not even know they are affected (i.e. showing no signs but are contagious).

I personally will be limiting myself greatly in any such activity (escort related as well as random hookups) until I have a lot more facts and certainty. Short-term this will be VERY BAD for escorting. How long that lasts is unknown, but eventually, will recover.

While it may be bad for escorting, I still need to make a living so as an escort I will continue escorting. Yes my health is at risk but I feel as an escort my health is always at a certain amount of risk. No one says an escorts job is easy, but taking the proper precautions do help.

Considering the new numbers in the US are 53 people now, I still wouldn’t panic. Yes these numbers can and probably will get worse, but for now I am not terribly worried of widespread transmission.

Will it affect escorting? I dunno. Maybe older monied guys who are already respiratory-compromised will be more cautious.

People, markets, governments, hate unknowns. Hence the market reaction. Travel bans. Conferences and trade shows are geing cancelled. These factors will likely affect trade. Guys from smaller markets who hire when traveling will be challenged. Uncertainty in the digital age may dampen interests and urges.

 

Libido is a fairly strong driving force, so I wouldn't anticipate a major reduction in demand.

The precautions of hand washing, not touching your face and eyes are prudent. A young, healthy escort, or client, probably has little to fear beyond flu and respiratory illness.

my company has recalled everyone from overseas and all international travel - even within region (ie, US to Canada, or Brazil to Argentina) requires group president approval.

 

I am hesitant to hire right now...not that I think the risk is that high, but not sure it’s worth the risk versus a little patience. I haven’t changed any of my daily behavior - nor do I think it is needed (other than some more frequent hand washing, which is probably not a bad idea anyway ?).

Well, I just cancelled my trip to Thailand and Bali ? but I’m still going to London for a long appt - couldn’t really cancel a 14 day sort of thing, at least the NHS won’t break me if I get sick over there ??‍♂️

 

I think that caution is probably fine for this pretty non pressing hobby, and probably also we all have different risk tolerances (and health insurance / potential health cost burdens / ages / immune states)

 

I’m just choosing caution for myself until I know more - My hope is that the coronavirus doesn’t like to vacation in the Florida Keys

Of course I care that my friends don't have health insurance in the US but also they are 25 and extremely healthy so not very likely to be CV victims. However, the way CV shows up as 1000 cases at once in a region because of it's 2-3 week gestation period creates panic that should effectively soften the market. But I imagine the summer heat will make the virus at least dormant and the market will harden back up.

I’m living in Bangkok right now and you’d barely know anything is going on without going online. Tourism is noticeably down. No big tour buses. Shopping malls full of locals just not tourist.

not as many face masks as you would expect. Air pollution has been very bad recently. More masks for that.

Online Apps full of working guys. Adult entertainment zones doing ok business on weekends, bit slower on weekdays. People are aware, but no signs of panic. I read about lots more nervousness in the US than I see here. I’m going to Vietnam next week for a few days, before coming back to Thailand . Friends there say they aren’t that concerned. But we are avoiding Hong Kong and China. They do quick temperature checks in the airports. So for now we are just living are normal day to day life.

cool tip. Thanks. I was not aware of hydrogen peroxide wipes. Agreed the normal ethanol based wipes are of limited use - you need like 30 min contact with ethanol to have a high sanitization rate. Just be mindful not to bleach your clothes!
