I tired to watch the video in its entirely but couldn’t get past 20.

 

These deaths, which were really casualties of the CHEMICAL WARFARE that the U.S. Government planted into the Gay Community is extremely disturbing to me.

I watch this every couple of years and I always find myself in tears by the end. What disturbs me the most is how the porn industry consumes its own. What it invariably does is take a group of very good looking immature, young me and introduces them to a world of quick easy money and easy drugs. The vast majority of these guys simply are not old enough and mature enough to handle the situations that arise in porn.

 

I have always felt, and still do, that the world of escorting tends to attract a far more stable, far more mature, and generally old group of guys. Although there is some cross over between the world of porn and escorting they are basically very different. The survival rate amongst escorts is far higher than that amongst porn participants.

 

Very sad!!!!!

Well, you're not being graded, but the reason one goes to college (and even to grade school and high school) is to prepare for real life. In real life, there is no reason to take seriously statements anyone makes if there is no evidence to back up that statement. Why should anyone believe any crap someone pulls out of thin air?

It was interesting to see the large number of heart failure deaths. In my experience, most cases of heart failure under the age of 50 are due to amphetamine or stimulant use, especially when coupled with alcohol. The saddest part about the deaths is that even when the heart is in very bad shape, it can go completely back to normal if the drugs stop. I'd be happy to take care of a porn star, although I must say I don't have any patience with drug use. Sad to see the number of suicides. If only we could talk to them before. I wonder what leads so many to suicide.

 

I also noticed how many died from motorcycle/car accidents. While I do not know the details of those accidents, just the sheer number seemed awfully high. There are two types or "styles" of suicide, direct and indirect. Direct would be slashing your wrists or swallowing a bullet. Indirect is a bit trickier. Instead of doing something as obvious and final like jumping off a bridge, the individual takes excessive risks - driving too fast, doing too many drugs, mixing drugs & alcohol - with the subconscious goal of suicide.

 

I'm sure some of those deaths were just accidents, nothing more. But the alarmingly high number, especially in the context of how many other porn stars directly committed suicide, makes me think that with some of them at least, the desire to self-destruct played a role.

Picking up on post by @E.T.Bass above, the agenda by the videomaker seems to exploit our tendency to find causation in correlation. Hundreds of thousands of gay and bisexual men died of AIDS in the past four decades. The vast majority of course had nothing to do with porn. It only follows that a group of young men who at some point appeared in gay porn films would be similarly affected. Likewise, deaths by suicide, accident or violence happen throughout the population, for varied and complicated causes. Except for the preponderance of AIDS deaths, the necrology of my high school or college classes would look very similar.

 

We experience all actors, and especially pornies, in a special way that makes us feel falsely connected to them. We usually only know them by their screen personas, which for porn actors usually means at their most beautiful and sexually alluring. They're our fantasy lovers and fuck buddies. The photos in the montage show them at that time in their lives, under their porn name, almost always a pseudonym. We never knew the actual man playing the role, yet the video tugs at us to invoke a kind of bittersweet nostalgia.

I think people are allowed to question others here, otherwise we wouldn’t have a reply function /ability to quote. I don’t think I’ve been unnecessarily catty or anything on the regular, sometimes I’m sarcastic / pedantic, but so are a lot of the regular posters here

 

I’ve never heard about the government inserting drugs into the gay community to kill it. Maybe you’ve read an article or watched a documentary, and if so, I’d love to know.

I think that I answered very reasonably, I think if you have something interesting to add about government and chemical warfare on the gay community, that this community of many gay men would be interested to hear about it. Taking it to PM is not really the way to go on a matter like this, where knowledge could benefit the community at large.

To quote an episode of the TV show The Orville, "I think you are confusing opinions with knowledge." A statement such as "I believe Seth MacFarlane is the best comedian of all time" is a statement of opinion. A statement such as "Seth MacFarlane is the current President of the United States" is a statement of fact (as incorrect as it is). There's nothing wrong with having opinions. However, if you wish to persuade people into your opinion, you are going to have to use facts (unless the person you're trying to persuade is gullible and feeble-minded). That is what your teachers and professors were trying to instill in you when you were in school, but apparently that didn't sink in.

You could argue that perhaps my experience is atypical, and I suppose that would be a possibility. That being said, research has been done on this subject, which strongly suggests that amphetamine use is, in fact, responsible for heart failure in younger patients:
