Daddy hasn’t had enough reviews to publish lately. How unfortunate! The reviews are a great resource. I encourage all to submit reviews and to also encourage escorts to mention Daddy’s Reviews to their clients. Some may not wish to do so, but many (escorts and clients) don’t know anything about Daddy’s Reviews. Escorts I have mentioned it to have been grateful for the info and, in most cases, for the review.

If you have NOT already done so, I think this post quite relevant and should be in the "General Forum" as well. When I read Daddy's message on Monday, I thought about submitting a post relative to his vast decline in reviews and had thought about posting what you did. I'm glad that you took the initiative to do so.

I'm not all together certain that reviews as they must currently be written/censored are particularly useful/valuable. About all that is allowed is innocuous information such as: 1.) is he or is he not on time, 2.) is he or is he not a nice guy, and 3.) does he or does he not look like his photographs. Any description of his performance skills is strictly forbidden. I used to write reviews of every guy I met now I never do. I simply state here in the Deli that I has a great experience and if a reader wants more information to PM me. I’m convinced that the recent rapid drop in the number of reviews submitted is directly related to the limitations imposed on those reviews. Frankly why bother?????

I‘m of the same mind, though I’m not particularly proud of it. I use to religiously submit reviews and stopped after the rules changed and, likewise, I mention I met someone on the forum site and address question via PM.

I‘m a little conflicted about this because I suspect that the review site may generate income that helps support the forum site and it‘s a tiny way I can help. I also understand that having a centralized review repository is more helpful in the long run than one or more forum threads. That said, unless you skip all the optional elements it takes a bit of time. If you do skip the optional fields then you’re left with the very basic info that @Epigonos mentions.

I agree wholeheartedly. I also wonder what the "opt-in" step accomplishes. Almost none of the escorts opt-in, and when they do, I haven't detected any additional info post opt-in. There are other factors that contribute to less reliance on the reviews. The site is much less predictable than it was in the Hooboy era. Back then, Hooboy expressly stated that reviews would post everyday, including weekends, by 6 a.m. EST. Barring an infrequent disruption (illness, lack of internet connection for Hooboy due to a storm while traveling), you could rely on the reviews posting on that schedule. Under Daddy, weekend reviews were eliminated, and the site goes on hiatus without advanced warning, and often without notice about when the posting of reviews will be resumed. (We've come to know over time that Daddy suspends reviews for several weeks at year end/beginning, but that's gleaned from experience rather than notice). There are other factors, most of which are not within the control of Daddy/admins.

Although I fully agree on the comparatively diminished value of the reviews after FOSTA rules, I think they are still very much valuable. As when with dealing with any kind of censorship, it is up to the writer to respect the rules and still deliver substantial information. Just one example, copied from a review from about one year ago:

"Trap has been one of my favorite porn stars since I first saw one of his performances in BreedItRaw's series The House. Of course, as always when I am considering hiring a Pstar for the first time, I was afraid he would deliver an underwhelming performance. It is easy to perform with hot guys, another thing is this regular Joe.

I was wrong. Trap was easy to connect with, quick and fluent to communicate, and showed up on time. He performed with me as in his videos. Smoking hot, engaged, approachable, humble, sweet, a guy that indeed I will hire again the next time he visits DC.

Lucky guys from Los Angeles, you have him in his home base."

Am I saying everything I would like? Hell, no. Of course more details would make it more useful. However, it does provide substantial useful information for the friends looking references about the guy.

I have been an active participant on this site since the days of Hooboy. I have also been a monthly financial contributor to the site for a number of years. At one time my principal interest was the reviews – no longer. Since Daddy separated the original site into two sites: the Review Site and the Forum Site I find that my interest in the latter has diminishes greatly. If, tomorrow, Daddy permanently closed down the Review Site I would continue to support this Forum Site financially because if I want information about a particular escort this is where I go for it NOT the review site. Additionally I enjoy a number of the other forums that make up this site.

I fully agree on this. Sometimes I even forget to check the reviews site, which was unthinkable just a couple of years ago. But saying that the reviews are worthless is quite different.

I am more of a newer (since 2016) user of both sites and despite their limitations have been very grateful to have them as major pieces in figuring out the puzzle of hiring. I don't use the reviews to get specific intimate details about every potential person but do find it invaluable sometimes in terms of determining basic questions of who is a legit professional provider versus a potential scammer/thief and/or spotting and avoiding serial fake profiles.

Also for me the use of both forums, (in my opinion) helps to reduce unncessary back and forth questions that I might otherwise have to do before i might feel comfortable in ultimately hiring and meeting a new provider. In that regard some escorts (who don't want to have to answer the same basic questions over and over again) from numerous potential new clients may not realize benefits the reviews could be helping them from a time wasting management perspective. (Just a stream of consciousness thought, hahaha)

Regardless even some of the very old dated reviews from years ago can be helpful. So thank you all who have participated in the past and made it easier for a newbie like me to navigate it all.

I started hiring before this site existed. Agencies provided some protection if you were a valued customer. Otherwise, you were on your own.

I am glad reviews still exist, if with a bit less content - basic information is fine with me.

this forum and PMs with trusted forum members seem to be the primary ways I vet providers these days........PMs with RM clients has been helpful at times, but it's important to vet even the clients over there!!!....(their length of membership there, # of provider reviews, and tone of personal replies can help with this)........daddysreviews is, of course, the best site of its kind, but the recent shortage of new reviews is hurting......that long-hiatus the site took a year or so ago probably drove away some regular reviewers.....the somewhat-cumbersome review form is too much for some, I presume......

and those always-present "YMMV" and "chemistry" concerns will always be important and no review can solve those

Well latbear4blk I'm afraid we're going to have to agree to disagree regarding the value of reviews. I still think they are worthless. Hopefully you will be attending the Palm Springs Weekend this spring. and we can sit around the pool on Sunday and discuss (argue) our points of view.

I am ready for you, Epi.

Seriously, next year my school calendar does not allow me to attend the swimming pool party. However, I may be able to attend the diner if I decide to go to LA. I am afraid I am going to miss your devil eggs again. :(

Let me bring another example of informative review, without breaking the rules:

"I have seen Allen several times since the last review published here, and he does not stop getting better. He visits DC regularly and never fails to reach out to me and check if I want to see him.

Although each time is better than the previous one, the improvement has been consistent but moderate. Until this time. Our meeting was really impressive and his performance has moved him up to the very top of my favorite American escorts.

I can only speak of his submissive talents. However, I know he is versatile and the friends who experienced his other side have all shared with me how happy they are.

It may be challenging connecting to him as he is extremely demanded and does not like to stay longer in one place. Be patient and stick to texting, do no waste your time calling and emailing him. He will be back to DC in November, close to my birthday, and I hope to celebrate with him."

Sure it could be much more detailed, but you cannot tell me it is not useful.

Next time I hire and submit a review I will make an extra effort to demonstrate my point: it is up to the reviewer to write an informative report.

I don't think the main problem is the censorship. The site has kept the same basic structure for too long, and it is outdated. Nowadays information flows much easier than in Hooboy times, and we have more access to the providers through social media. The absence of Daddy's Review from social media is a major flaw. I hope you are reading, @Guy Fawkes . You may pass this suggestions to Daddy.

You cannot not be in Twitter if you are involved in any way in the adult entertainment industry. Twitter is the second source of traffic to my blog, right after Google. Daddy's Review needs a presence there.

Additionally, I think that going in the direction of adding reviews of venues to those of escorts is a mistake, and another example of being stuck to an outdated mindset. As sexuality becomes more and more fluid, gay places are dying. It may give you some gas because there are still many, but it is just some more time. Instead of going in that direction, I would open the game to reviews of porn stars, porn sites, fans pages, etc.

I did that with my blog with very good results.

Have you guys considered that if Daddy goes to jail for up to 20 years because of FOSTA/SESTA both sites just fade away and you're left with the Rent.Men reviews.

Next we should lament how facebook, instagram, & others are scared to publish anything that's the least bit sexy.

Sounds like your crying over spilt milk; Why not instead fight to have the FOSTA/SESTA repealed? I suspect that if the legal liability went away the original reviews would be back just as fast as they went away.

So don't support the reviews... Don't help the site evolve... Watch the sites continue to fade away... Just remember who to blame for it...

For whatever legal pressure (FOSTA/SESTA?) or management decision caused this...I sadly agree with your point.

Although I agree the sterilized reviews aren't necessarily as helpful in some regards, they still can dole out a lot of pertinent information to prospective clients (and other escorts). Anything to help someone make an informed decision is great.

On a related tangent, I think maybe the sterilized reviews are in some ways better for the escort. One escort I spoke to, about reviews in general, said that although he appreciated the reviews, he felt that sometimes highly detailed reviews gave false impressions of how an encounter will go. YMMV and all. He said one client asked him why the "x... y... and z" of the encounter wasn't similar to what he read in some of his reviews. So crazy as it may sound, keeping the reviews toned down may tamper a client's maybe unrealistic comparison of expectations between review and actual encounter.

So basically the escort’s performance with different persons can be wildly variable and it’s all right with you? This seems unfair to clients. Perhaps a good way to prevent this phenomenon is for clients to open the line of discussion with a prospective hire with a “I read your review(s), and it sounds like we would mesh, because x, y, and z was said about you, and that pleases me.”

@big-n-tall is making a good point. Of course the best escorts perform differently with different clients, because we clients are different. Many providers complained to me for the level of details of my reviews, because it may make them lose clients who they can also satisfy. The best escorts are like geishas, and the fact that they performed x, y, and z with me, does not mean they could excel at q, r, and s with you. A potential client could read one of my reviews, and move on because he is looking for an escort who tops. Because of those complains I have started keeping some details for myself. Additionally, now and then I include a disclaimer reminding everyone that a meeting with an escort is a combination of 2 people, and the cockle of the provider with you may work quite differently that it did with me.

I am stoned, sleepy, and not sure whether or not I am making sense. Good night.

It's definitely understandable that the substantive content restrictions based on SOSTA/FOSTA fears would make the reviews not only less valuable to many, but also mor difficult to write. But that's spilt milk at this point. Clients with better writing skills will adjust, and those with a more discerning reader's eye will still gain something from even the less-detailed and sanitized reviews.

But perhaps, given the new limitations' obvious and foreseeable effect on review submissions, the site could endeavor to make everything else concerning reviews as simple and user-friendly as possible. People in this thread have complained about the new fields being too plentiful, confusing and unhelpful. So maybe the admins could consider paring those down some. Also, maybe allow reviews of escorts using their preferred stage names as listed in their ads or profiles, instead of insisting on a stage name that can pass for a traditional real name. If the review process contains additional inconvenient steps like this, it's only more likely to whittle away participation, at least on the margins. Just my 2 cents...

Don't help the site evolve...

This is the key word: Evolve. If things don't evolve, they die.

Support money is only a piece of this and Daddy's Reviews needs to be a clearinghouse for not just male escorts, but gay travel as well.

I actually think it would complement the legacy of Hooboy quite well. HB never stayed in one place for too long and absolutely loved the ins and outs of LGBT travel. At several points, he had mentioned implementing more 'gay-centric' travel reviews into the mix, but never really got around to it. I believe Daddy asking for a wider variety of reviews is a very good thing.

Let's get him some new content, stat! :)

Frankly Guy Fawkes I have never so much as implied that I would discontinue supporting this site. I would definitely like to see it continue as I enjoy many of its forums. However, as far as the escort site is concerned, I personally, would feel no great loss if it were to fade away and disappear.

First, if your opening statement/question is directly in reference to the escort I speak of... you're making assumptions about all his encounters and I only addressed one he spoke of. He has many great reviews from what I've seen. So I guess his encounters aren't too variable in satisfying his clients. I can't speak for every encounter he has... just the one he mentioned when we talked about reviews.

Realistically I know an escort and a client's interaction can be vastly different from each encounter... no matter how hard each person in said encounter tries... it may work or may not work. We all can and often respond differently to stimuli, even if we encounter the exact same stimuli.

Am I all right with it? Because I can't control someone's interactions with another individual, especially an encounter I have not an ounce of input or influence in... I don't care. Neither individual is a mechanical automaton and things don't always click. I have read high praise for a few escorts on these forums, that my encounters with said performer was meh or just ok. Just as ones I find outstanding don't always get the highest praise.

I agree. Discussing, ahead time, what each individual expectations are before a meet up prevents or tampers this phenomenon. But every client doesn't speak up... assumptions are made... etc., etc. Expectations in this type of thing is definitely a 2-way street.

If every encounter was a guaranteed home run, there would be no need for reviews. Reviews should be a guideline for any encounter, but I don't expect everything in a review I read to happen exactly the same.

I apologize for the lack of clarity. I meant any escort. I suppose I should have used “an” rather than “the.”
