For me it's relative to how I like the post/Pic

Like = I liked the guy in the Pic...my type or just plain nice

Love = a step above like I LOVE the Pic/guy(s) in the poster

Party hat = I use almost exclusively for pics with more than one person...let's all get together and play!

I thought it was universally understood:

Like = He looks pleasant.

Love = I am ready for a monogamous committed relationship with the man in the photograph.

Applause = He looks like an upstanding citizen who spends time giving back to the community by volunteering for charity.

Party = Let's meet, adorn party hats, get drunk, play pin the tail on the donkey, snort some powder, and have a gang bang wearing handcuffs and puppy masks.
