Would they go? Probably. Would I go? Probably not.

 

I don’t chase conventions. It’s never worth it. Hotels going to be thru the roof, or booked up. Any clients who do book could cancel due to all the annoying reasons related to such events. The clients who would be able to meet would likely be the call at 10/11 pm, asking if I can come to some massive labyrinth hotel downtown in 5 minutes because the conventions run late, then people are horny/tired after. Understandable, and if I was nearby or available I would. But it’s just not my pace of working.

 

I would go if I was specifically invited to go, and could drive/fly there and back without concerning myself with lodging.

When I look back on previous trips to Charlotte, I just think about how I didnt make the impressive numbers in the south like I do in other areas. I did happen to link up with someone from the forum in Raleigh who made a good impression.

 

But for the most part, I just never really made big hits in the South, or Charlotte for that matter. Most of the trips I did to North Carolina were like break even trips, that’s why eventually I never ended up moving there despite it being a “potential” relocation spot for me. And then after that whole law/bill that was passed even before Fosta (something about how NC would take extreme measures to prosecute anyone using the internet for “services”, the market really went dead for awhile.

 

I was trying to plan a run to Charlotte at the end of last year, had a few inquires but non that proved to be serious. I’m sure the RNC can make a difference, but on an average day the Charlotte market can already be pretty saturated. I can only imagine it being that much more.
