+ BobPS got a reaction from thomas in Who here had the oldest parents?
My dad was 50 and my mother was 38 when I was born. Unfortunately, my dad died suddenly when I was 17 and my mother died when I was 27 of complications of diabetes. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of  both of them. They were great parents. I only wish they’d lived  longer, and I especially would’ve liked to be able to talk to my dad as an adult and for both of them to see what I did with my life. While, some of my successes is due to my hard work, it was my parents who nurtured me and gave me a great upbringing with rules and boundaries which pointed me in a positive direction.

I'll be there! Though due to a work commitment with my day job, I won't be arriving until Saturday evening after the dinner. But I'll be sticking around until Tuesday.

It is a gym. It is not a bathhouse. if you fool around in the steam room or sauna you’re going to get thrown out and probably banned.

I know we will not get a complete list but I am encouraging any escorts planning on coming to Palm Springs for the yearly weekend, to post here or in the travel section.  It will be a big help to those of us thinking about a close in counter of the 69 kind.

+ BobPS reacted to + Oliver in Attention! – 21st Annual Palm Springs Weekend, 2024
Please mark your calendars for the Weekend – April 13, 14 and 15, 2024.  Specifics will not be posted here, in order to preserve confidentiality.  Therefore, if you are serious about attending this year’s events, please send an e-mail to me (if you know my address) or a “private message” with your return e-mail address so that I may send you the pertinent information as it unfolds.  Your confidential information will be respected, as I expect mine to be.

The first order of business will be Saturday dinner reservations at a local contemporary restaurant, followed by RSVP’s for the Sunday pool gathering at my temporary residence, followed by Monday morning reservations at a local popular breakfast restaurant.  You will be asked to prepay the dinner fee and the breakfast fee prior to the event via either PayPal or Venmo (instructions will be sent later).

If you will be bringing a “guest”, please tell me who. That information will also be kept confidential, unless you say otherwise. Attendance by escorts (by themselves or as someone's guest) is greatly encouraged.

If you will be coming from out-of-town and need accommodations, you should arrange for those ASAP, if you have not already. There have been several suggestions put forth in previous threads concerning possible accommodations.

Again, the dinner will be early Saturday evening, April 13, the pool gathering will be in the afternoon of Sunday, April 14, and the breakfast will be Monday morning, April 15.

If you have any questions, please ask in your e-mail or message.  I look forward to renewing acquaintances and meeting new ones!  Come and enjoy!😃

    You mean the Lexus NX350h.
First, use the industry Black Book (not Blue Book) to see what a dealer has paid for the car wholesale.  That's where you start negotiations.
Don't let a salesperson know too much, too quickly- They'll ask if you're leasing, financing or a cash buyer.  Don't set this in stone until you get a price you agree with.
Never buy the first visit to the dealer.
Always be prepared to get up and walk out.
And if you walk out, make sure you leave with the salesperson's final price quote on the car (drive-out price) and that he has your phone number.
End of the month is always better to buy than early or mid.
Bottom line, you don't really negotiate.  You wait them out until they hit the (realistic) number you want.  If the model isn't a massive seller, you're more likely to win playing the long game if you can stand it.
Note:  Don't try this with a Porsche.  I learned that the hard way.

With insurance companies, it all comes down to dollars.  It very well may cost more to repair your vehicle than its present market value, which is why they have decided to total it. You could try driving it yourself to another body shop and getting an estimate. It may be lower than the estimate that Allstate received ; just make sure the other Body Shop is reputable. You could also try negotiating with them over the car’s retail value. A five-year-old car with only 30,000 miles is low mileage and should command a premium. You could take it to the Chevrolet dealer where you bought it and ask them what it would be worth retail if it wasn’t damaged. if you give Allstate evidence that the car is worth more than what they’re willing to pay you for it, they make reconsider and repair the car. I’m sure the Chevy dealer would be glad to help you because they know that sooner or later you may buy another vehicle from them. Good luck, glad you weren’t hurt and looking forward to seeing you in Palm Springs in April.

Yes, it is worth it. The last time I flew Philadelphia to LA and then rented a car and went to Palm Springs. I realized I had flown to Paris more quickly. It is worth flying directly into Palm Springs even you have to change planes. Avoid LA at all cost.

My sarcastic self couldn’t help but  post this.

    HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
    1.   Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Holiday spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.
    2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly, it's rare. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
    3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
    4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.
    5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Holiday party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
    6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
    7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.
    8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert, Labor Day?
    9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.
    10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate and wine in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming " WOO HOO   what a ride!"   Have wonderful holidays
