Yes. They tell me there's a high probability he's not sincere (i.e. isn't going to show up). And he's likely to be one of the fellows I've blocked before, trying again from a new, fake number. In any case, at some point I'm either going to have to give him my address or show up to his, neither of which I'm willing to do if he can't trust me with a simple (real) phone number. I realize I'm an outlier in my beliefs on this subject, which means you have plenty of other providers to chose from who don't have such reservations.
It's detectable because when I call back (which I always do) I'll get some bullshit message saying something like "the text-to-mail customer you're calling isn't available right now...".
Yes. If it were me, there'd be no confusion on that issue.
