I think it's based on the laws of the country you are viewing the rent men pages. Written reviews may spell out details. You'll also notice words like escort are usually changed to *** on the site.

I hire a lot but I window shop even more. I love seeing new pics added by regulars and I love seeing new people in my area. Sometimes I add a lot of criteria filters and search for guys that I add to my buddy list. Some I fly here for a visit and I look at their pics as I look forward to seeing them. You know, I get the need for strict legislation to squash the sex slave and pedo traders. There’s a special place in hell for those bastards, but we are talking about consenting adults. From what I’ve noticed the ones who request deposits seem less reliable and don’t care much about client satisfaction. It’s a classic red flag.

Let me add that the reason I say this is mostly due to accountability issues. But it's an accountability issue on both sides. If there was a ? way to insure escorts lived up to their ads, and a ? sure way to sure all clients were decent guys, then maybe deposits would make more sense. But as things stand, deposits don't.
