  1. I'm not sure if Fleabag is done or not, but it was great.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel I loved a lot.  I believe it is returning.

Same with Ozark.  Great show!  I haven't heard when the next season will arrive.

High Fidelity on Hulu was canceled.  Tragic. Lot of great characters.  I loved Cherise.  Da'vine Joy Randolph is amazing.

  2. By now the news is pretty certain the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners are working out a deal to leave the Big 12.  They both intend to jump to the SEC.

I am sorry to see the Big 12 take such a hit, and wonder what the future will hold for that conference.

Will Baylor and Oklahoma State follow out the door?  Both have strong basketball and football programs.

There is buzz that Kansas and possibly Iowa State are looking at joining the Big 10.

The Big 12 may ultimately vanish in the way the old Southwest Conference did.

gee, late to the party again....

just watched it on Netflix.....I thought I'd seen it already, but I guess not since I've only had Netflix for a few months....

really well-done documentary....made by the couple's daughter......low-key vibe....includes present-day (2019) interviews with Larry Flynt and Jeff Stryker.......entirely fun to watch with a wide variety of topics and issues packed into the 90-or-so minutes

glad I got to go to the store several years ago before it closed in 2016.......

I remember liking the dad quite a lot.

I was very happy to hear @coriolis888found a home for the Rottweiler that was abandoned in front of his home last week. I just came across this story about how difficult it can be to get approved for adopting a rescue dog in NY & other places. Unbelievable!

I tried a rescue outfit but found they wanted too many personal credentials and preferred to choose which dog on their website I can meet, not letting me choose.  They seemed fussy and weird.

So I adopted from the county shelter instead.  Very happy with the outcome.

  5. After college I got hired by a company in Minnesota and lived in South MPLS. near Lake Harriet/Lake Calhoun vicinity.

Locals would boast of the highest per capita population of gay men anywhere!!  More than the Castro, they would say.

After a decade I transferred to the West Coast for work.  I can't tell you how much I miss Minnesotans.

    😉

I trust they continue reminding about all that makes them special.

  6. I thought there was a thread somewhere in the forum on Ronan Farrow's book and podcast about how various powerful entities kill news stories, such as reporting about the kind of sex shenanigans Trump, Harvey Weinstein and others have gotten into.  Can't find anything.

The book, Catch and Kill,  is a good read.  I remember getting more and more angry at NBC as I read it.  Afterwards I Googled to see what happend to the network culprits and was disppointed to see some bigger names still working there.  Well, they aren't there anymore, finally transitioned out.

And now Ronan Farrow has turned his Catch and Kill podcast into a documentary on HBO.  I watched the first part tonight and found it pretty good.  I am so happy that Farrow is able to evolve his book and podcast into film so more people will learn about what happened, and to learn about him.

For anyone that has forgotten, Farrow won a Pullitzer for his #MeToo reporting in the New Yorker.

He is so down to earth inspite of everything.   I really like him a whole lot.

It does not include "The Sparsholt Affair" though.

I finally got back to this one.  Glad that I read it.    I hope Alan Hollinghurst.  has more coming.  I'm a fan.

  8. Early on Shapovalov twice hit shots out that should have been open court winners.  And his ball toss.  The announcers thought it was nerves.  Disappointing to watch.

    The final will be interesting.

All of Italy will be watching I expect.

  9. Federer won the French Open and then won Wimbledon in the same year, 2009.  Nadal has also won both the same year.   It is a rare thing to do.

This year may be Djokovic's chance.

But....................I will be rooting for Shapovalov tomorrow.

I don't think Shapovalov is ready yet for a Wimbledon title, or even a semi-final, although I enjoy watching him. I would like to see Federer win one more time, but he has been lucky to get this far, and I don't think he will go much farther, unless something surprising up-ends Djokovic. Medvedev impressed me with the way he turned around his match with Cilic, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the final, where I expect his opponent will be Djokovic, who I believe will join Federer and Nadal in the 20-slam club. My dark horse candidate for the final is Berretini.

I can't find any video of Shapovalov's straight sets win today.  It wasn't on the tennis feed here.

I did watch the Kochanov 5-set match win against Korda today.  Kochanov will play Shapovalov in the quarter finals.  Looking forward to some great grass court tennis between those two, plus they are both easy on the eyes, IMO.

Federer is through to the quarters also.
