Yes some things need appreciation not explanation.   

I would make one amendment to #3.  The scientific method only helps you understand one part of the natural world.  You need a big heart and open spirit to truly understand the wonders and marvel at the mysteries of the natural world.  The scientific method supplements this deep appreciation of the natural world.

While I totally agree that one should compliment people in front of others, I would not phrase the first part of the sentiment as Admonish thy friends in secret.  That could be taken to mean that you should admonish your friends behind their back.  It might be better stated, Admonish your friends not at all or perhaps. IF one is to admonish a friend, do so in the privacy of they company.   A well considered admonishment in private said in a spirit of helpfulness can be a blessing.  One should not be afraid of giving or receiving these in the name of friendship.

My dad grew up less than a mile from where she had grown up and where her parents were still living.  My dad briefly was the newspaper boy who delivered the paper to her father's house.  I wish I had read this story while my dad was still alive.  I would have loved to have asked him if he ever received any random acts of kindness from Dr. Hepburn.    

I've been sick recently and have been laid up. I use a small local pharmacy here in NY and have for years. Support local business and all that. My doctor called in a prescription for me and not only did they deliver they picked up some chicken soup for me on the way over. Corporate America can suck my diseased dick.

I'm just the opposite.  If the clothes don't start coming off during the first song, I stop at 1.  Period.  I'd guess that 99% of the time that's been a reliable indicator of whether the dancer is going to be generous with his body or tease me along hoping to make lots of $$ with minimum effort.  They don't necessarily have to end up totally naked by the end of the 1st song , but the willingness to do so tells me everything.

I’m grateful that I’m  enjoying a fulfilling retirement. I remind myself every day how lucky I am to be  a 70 year old who lives a very nice, happy life. So many gay men of my generation died way too young; many before they were even 30 years old. I’m grateful I avoided an early death. I’m also thankful for my friend's whether we have been friends for sixty years or six months. Finally , I’m thankful for this website.
