if you shower right before your date, that should be sufficient; my favorite times with my guy are when he showers but doesn't give too much attention to his pits; it's especially good after he's been riding his bike!

I too find the smell/taste of deodorant off-putting, I also don't desire a fresh out of the shower armpit either. I much prefer to smell/bask in a man's natural musk.
Fragrances on clothing is a different story. A fragrance can enhance an outfit without detracting from the man's scent, so I like a good cologne.

Definitely no deodorant or talcum powder for me for any date/sex play.  Deodorant always tastes bad.  I am not among those who enjoy pit scent but there are many who do.  If I was concerned about pit odor, I would before the activity gets too hot and heavy sponge my pits with some soapy water and then rinse.
Cologne is a different matter.  If a scent smells classy to me and it's a setting that warrants an upscale cologne, I feel more attractive.  If however I anticipate it's a rough and tumble outdoorsy guy, no way. My pit scent is part of the experience.  My first sexual experience was with a guy whose cologne smelled terrible.  To this day I have a flashback when I smell something similar.
I rely on the sales person behind the cologne counter to guide me.  Between each scent i am advised to smell coffee beans to neutralize the prior scent.  It works!

As I have aged, my tastes have changed. as I am now a senior.      I won't hire kids, 18-20 any more.   While I might hire a 25 year old, I actually prefer 35 year olds or even older.  Actually there are young men that I noticed on RM 10 years ago and didn't hire them then but as they have now grown up and matured I have hired them.  One of the few escorts I have hired more than once and probably about 6 times is in his late 50s and has a dad bod.  Never would have looked at the geezer when I was in my 30s

I am just as selective as I was when I started hiring a number of years ago.  I like twinks and jocks.  I prefer 20-30 years old. Sometimes I’ll try an 18-19 year old, usually successfully, but it can be a bit risky.

I have always liked men in a certain age group - 30's to 40's. Now that I'm in my 70s i'm still attracted to those men, but they are now younger men rather than the mature men I used to relate to.  What has changed for me is that I used to be uncomfortable around men that are much younger  - 20's, but no longer.  I still like mature men, but those younger guys, wow!

I was 48 when I first hired.  I had never had an experience with a man of any significance.  I went through a site that had about 500 thumbnail pictures and out of those 500, I found three men attractive enough to consider having sex with them.  I was basically hiring because my tolerance for women had bottomed when my wife passed away and I felt as though sex with women was somehow cheating on her.
So 3 of 500.  For several years my hiring practices were limited to muscular, handsome, and with a sexy quality to their photos.  Over time, I have expanded my tastes.  I would probably find more than 100 men on that list of 500 that I first saw.  I think this is because I realised that my enjoyment was based on actions not appearanaces.  Sure, the photos get the motor running, but I need someone who is willing to put the pedal to the metal in innovative and fun ways.  So now my age group hiring is much broader.  Though I still prefer muscular men, the bodybuilder look is not as high on my list.  Socially, I now find that I will be willing to try all different styles of men.
