I'm in Portland now, and downtown feels much safer to me than when I was last here in 2019 and even 2015. The voters have changed their attitudes on the soft-on-crime and soft-on-drugs approach, and it shows. I still see about one obviously mentally disturbed person per block, but they are standing upright. No more strewn out bodies blocking the sidewalk, and no more tent cities. Today I saw a task force pull up in their van to help a man who had fallen down drunk get on his feet and on the light rail towards his home. It took them over an hour, but they were helpful.

Silverado has moved its private dance area. It's still in the basement near the preformers' stage, but the booths are much larger and very private. It's a great improvement.

Remember that every time you tip your dancer a $5 Canadian, it's only costing you about $3.50 US. Tipping your bartender a Toonie ($2 Canadian coin, worth about $1.50 US) per drink is acceptable, but tip your dancers in Canadian notes.

I had the pleasure of going to the drive in multiple times in the 1990s in California. It is now a shopping center. There is still an active Drive In Movie theater in Las Vegas, but it's not the same. The weather is too hot during the summer to enjoy it, so everyone leaves their car running with the AC on. There's no speakers anymore, everyone tunes their car radio to the station broadcasting the movie audio.
