This is what I do as a client. I only hire off of RM. I check the provider's ad to see when the last time they were on RM. If it shows he checked his account within the last 24-48 hours, that tells me he is serious about his business and checks his account regularly for new business (I see accounts that haven't been checked in weeks). Then, I email (!) him one or two complete sentences stating he has a nice ad and that I'll be in his city on certain dates, will he be available? Then I wait. If I get back a friendly, warm, response, then we're off to the races. At that point I share my phone number and we text from there on out. If I get a one word answer or no answer, it's a turn off and I move on.

As for rates, I expect to pay more in big coastal cities than cities in the middle of the country but there are exceptions to every rule. So welcome to the business!

I consider myself an attractive guy who hires. However, I also know that chemistry takes two for it to work. I always provide a succinct yet informative physical description of myself to my companion. I try to be as objective as I can about height, weight, etc. When it comes to race, I state that I'm Latino. I even tell the guy I'm uncut. I do all this for 2 reasons: I like for the escort to be as fully informed as possible so that he can opt in/out but also so that he can put himself in the frame of mind to make the best of our time together. The second reason is pride: by writing down or telling him my dimensions - height, weight, race, etc, I'm subsconsciously owning who I perceive myself to be physically. Not with the intent to box me in, but to be proud of my own packaging.

Good point, yet we're not the only ones going solo... plenty of unmarried/divorced straight men and women age that way and have a big house all by themselves.

I think the biggest problem for gay men as they age is loneliness. I exercise, keep my weight down (though I've found food is one of life's pleasures), stay out of the sun (not easy when you live in Arizona) but I also hod onto as many friends as I can.

I wouldn't. There's a difference between a no-show and a provider letting you know he can't make it after all. In this instance, take him at his word.
