I think being with other naked men (in a non sexual way) is a validating ritual. I rode to CA AIDS Lifecycle ride in June, the ride ended in LA and I stayed a few days after (which included gay pride in LA). I went to a Russian bath - non sexual, but a place which celebrated men being together. There was steam, sauna, swimming, massage, showers etc. The old time Russian guys did Platza a ritual of drumming someone with oak branches w/leaves which have been soaked in water. It’s an ancient, beautiful non sexual ritual of healing. I was happy to watch the ritual while also enjoying a steam sauna whirlpool and massage.

In addition to my day job I teach spin at my local Y. I am always fascinated by locker room dynamics. Our locker room has a row of open showers against one wall, and a row of enclosed shower stalls on the other. It’s generally younger guys who gravitate to the shower stalls. At the same time, many of the morning “regulars” (straight) know I am gay and do not hesitate to change or shower next to me. I do think this is largely a generational thing - many of the younger guys will even keep a towel wrapped around the them while changing their underwear (sadly LOL)

There are a few providers who seem to have mastered the "travel circuit" approach to the business, Victor Powers and Mike Gaite come to mind. You might start with a few cities closer to you (i.e. Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati etc) where you might even be able to drive or take a bus to do so frugally and start to build some cash reserves and a client base. Chicago especially has large conventions - if you look at the convention schedule and schedule when there are large conventions in town you'll likely pick up some of that business. You can get hotel deals on sites like Hotwire. I'm sure there are economic formulas which apply - i.e. cancel the trip if you don't have a certain number of bookings before you go. Others have figured out the "secret sauce" and are probably willing to share some trade secrets with you. Good luck.
