  1. Made 2 quarts of chicken broth with bouillon cubes, a can of carrots, some parsley flakes, and some dehydrated, minced onion… Simmered for an hour… During which time I made some medium width Manischewitz egg noodles, and a packet of Manischewitz matzoh ball mix.

Perhaps to earn some money, I can give lessons on cooking from scratch.

Dude, do you think anyone has noticed how horrible the Rockies are?

The streak ends at 31! Just slightly short of Cal Ripken… In their 32nd game of the year, the Rockies finally never trailed. They did, however, enter the ninth inning with a three nothing lead and give up a two run home run, so they tried…

    But they failed to fail.

    Whomp whomp!

  3. Karin Slaughter fans can rest assured that Sara Linton is on Will Trent‘s radar.

Though it’d be premature to report that the ABC procedural is planning a trip to Grant County, series star/producer Ramón Rodríguez tells TVLine that Slaughter’s other book protagonist is frequently brought up in conversation with his fellow producers. More specifically, they discuss when (and how) they should introduce Sara.

“We’ve talked about it,” the actor confirms during an in-studio interview. “You know, it’s a big deal. We don’t take that lightly. It’s such a big character in the books, and would potentially be a big character in the series, so we want to be really mindful [about how we do that].

“We have an amazing cast, as well, so you have to interweave things in a way,” Rodríguez continues, alluding to the complexity of inserting Sara into a well-established ensemble. “Whenever you’re entering another piece, and it’s a big piece, you want to be really smart about it.”

For the uninitiated: The Will Trent book series was preceded by Slaughter’s Grant County series. “Set in the fictional town of Heartsdale, Ga., in the fictional Grant County, the narrative takes place from the perspective of three main characters: Sara Linton, the town’s pediatrician and part-time coroner; her ex-husband, Jeffrey Tolliver, who is chief of police; and his subordinate, detective Lena Adams,” according to the official description.

Sara Linton was first introduced in 2001’s “Blindsighted,” and would later cross over to Slaughter’s Will Trent series, beginning with its third installment, 2009’s “Undone.” Eventually, Will and Sara are romantically involved.

Now that Season 2 of ABC’s Will Trent has wrapped production — three episodes remain, which Rodríguez says culminate in a “really intense” finale — “we’ll actually start having those conversations about Season 3 — what that’s going to look like, and what those arcs are going to be, and I’m sure the [Sara Linton] conversation will come up,” he says. “How do you bring that character into this world? Who might play that character? I’m sure there are a lot of ideas out there, but it’s something we are definitely mindful of…. We just want to make sure that we do it right.

“Our showrunners, Liz [Heldens] and Dan [Thomsen], and all of the producers, want to be really smart about how you bring in such a big character and do it justice,” Rodríguez stresses. “If and when, the timing of that is key…. There are people who are fans of the books that want to see that [and] there are people who have joined the show who have never read the books, and are now maybe going to read the books. I know there’s a lot of chatter about it, though.”

  4. The mystery of the Titan submersible implosion may soon be solved.

The five people who perished aboard the OceanGate vessel as it plunged thousands of feet below sea level could have been victims of “micro-buckling,” a new study suggests.

Small imperfections in the thin-walled structure may have become more damaged with every trip the vessel took to visit the Titanic’s final resting place until it finally gave way to the immense pressure of the ocean on the doomed June 18, 2023 trip, researchers from the University of Houston theorized.

In a paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences earlier this month, the experts examined how the “slenderness” of a hemispherical shell with random imperfections — much like the submersible itself — is extra susceptible to a buckling-induced collapse.

There are still several other potential causes for the disaster — including issues with the hull’s carbon fiber composite material — but the buckling effect could be one.

Much like a car or a plane, the spherical shell of the submersible was designed to carry large loads, but small imperfections — even those invisible to the eye — provide a weak point for pressure to congregate, ultimately collapsing the thin walls of the vessel.

The Titan submersible had made more than 50 dives without any issues before its infamous implosion — but each trip may have caused more damage to the hull until it ultimately lost its integrity.

Price of dairy is coming down around here. I went to Aldi this past weekend and got a pint of whipping cream for $1.25, a dozen eggs for $0.70 and a pound of butter for $1.59. Guess global warming hasn’t reached us yet in NJ. 😝

Aldi, Lidl and Wal-Mart are amazingly cheaper for groceries.

My favorite at Aldi and Lidl are their big 49 cent avocados and all 3's $1.33 12-grain bread that's $5 everywhere else.

Aldi reveals big grocery price change — here’s how it will affect customers

Aldi, already known for its low prices, announced that it will lower the cost of more than 250 products.

The store’s price reductions will ultimately result in an estimated $100 million in savings for Americans through Labor Day.

Aldi’s cost reductions will be applied to seasonal items such as picnic necessities, BBQ essentials, travel-ready snacks and better-for-you foods, per the press release.

  7. Jevon Porter, a former Pepperdine standout and the younger brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr., was arrested Friday night in Missouri on suspicion of DWI, Missouri State Sgt. Kyle Green confirmed to ESPN.

Porter, 20, was released on summons and not booked into jail in Boone County, where the incident occurred, according to Green. The news of Porter's arrest was first reported by Power Mizzou.

According to Green, Porter was stopped for speeding before his DWI arrest. Porter, a 6-foot-11 forward, recently transferred from Pepperdine to Loyola Marymount. He averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last season.

Loyola Marymount said it is looking into Porter's situation.

"We are aware of recent reports in the media and are gathering information about the matter," the school said in a statement to ESPN.

The arrest comes two weeks after Porter's older brother, Jontay Porter, a two-way player for the Toronto Raptors, was banned from the NBA after an investigation showed that he bet on games, influenced the outcome of bets and provided confidential information to bettors. In a statement, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Jontay Porter's "blatant violations of our gaming rules are being met with the most severe punishment."

Days later, another of Jevon Porter's older brothers, Coban Porter, a former player at Denver, was sentenced to six years in prison for a drunk-driving crash that killed a woman in Colorado last year. Coban Porter, according to police records, had a blood alcohol level of 0.19, more than twice the legal limit, when he ran a red light and slammed into a vehicle, killing Kathy Limon Rothman and seriously injuring her passenger. He received a two-year sentence for injuring Rothman's passenger but will serve the sentences concurrently.

Dude, do you think anyone has noticed how horrible the Rockies are?

Rockies set MLB record while trailing for 29 consecutive games

Hilarious...  Having Colorado scored 5 in the top of the first, and their pitcher threw 8 shutout innings on 72 pitches!  He couldn't get through the 9th & they went to the 10th tied at 5.

Colorado scored the ghost runner in the 10th & thus still had not trailed until the powerhouse Marlins scored 2 in the bottom half.

  13. Dear Abby: I am a lesbian who recently experienced heartbreak by falling in love with my mentor and boss. I didn’t want it to happen, but it did. The time we spent together was a balance of bliss and fear. My heart and soul feel that she feels the same way about me. I left my job because my feelings for her became so overwhelming, I could no longer cope.

She knows how I feel about her, and she has shown interest in me in the past. She is not gay, but I do know of straight women who have fallen in love with one woman in their lives. We have a 15-year age difference. That doesn’t matter to me. I’m absolutely crazy about her. I dream about our Victorian home together and a beautiful garden and life. I want nothing else but to make her happy for the rest of her life, make her breakfast every morning and beautiful dinners every night.
We are no longer communicating, upon her request. WAS THAT REQUEST IN THE FORM OF A RESTRAINING ORDER? I want to heal my heart and live my life. It’s so hard to let go of her, but I know I should. On the other hand, something tells me I should wait for her. How can I move forward and find the love I deserve in this life? — Crushed in California

Dear Crushed STALKER: If you really want to find the love you know you deserve, then you are going to have to find someone who is ready and willing to provide it. This person is not. She was interested in you only as a friend and an employee. Asking you to stop communicating with her was a strong message.

It may take time and even psychological counseling to help you disengage from your fantasy of an idealized life with this woman. But for the sake of your sanity, it’s important that you try. STAY FAR AWAY FROM ME, BUT CAN I HAVE SOME OF WHAT YOU’RE SMOKING?
