  1. In the past I thought Bose was the one to beat, it was, but about four years ago I bought a Sonos sound bar for my flat screen TV and I could not believe the quality! A few months later I bought the Sonos subwoofer, it blew me away and that gave a bass sound similar to some of those low pipes on the large pipe organ at the church I attend. Needless to say, I am a very a happy Sonos customer. I was so impressed with the system, I bought two additional smaller speakers that could be set up for surround sound for TV or as separate speakers in other locations in my house. Their sound quality and frequency range is just as impressive. Another thing I love about my Sonos system is the app on your computer and cell that allows you to listen to thousands of live commercial radio stations from around the world and this is not some compressed crap like SiriusXM, this is directly from the stations broadcast with fantastic quality and separation. I am also able to play my songs from iTunes that is loaded on an external hard drive. I told a friend about a year ago that I considered my Sonos to be one of the most wise purchases I have made in many years. Do yourself a favor and investigate Sonos.

  2. I have the RexAir Rainbow vacuum with the water tank and I love it. I think it is probably the best vacuum you can buy, mine was purchased used around 1996 and still works wonderful. It is cumbersome, but I only use it when I vacuum the whole house, which reminds me I should be doing that now since I talked myself out of vacuuming this past weekend.

Some posters I miss because we tended to like the same types of gents, so seeing them post about one usually eliminated the need for a 411 post of my own. One poster was another businessman who travelled like me - “something-lucas”, another had the moniker “yankman” I believe. Another was “TheOtherGuy” - I believe he had a meltdown at some point over something posted and *poof* he was gone. JTBrooklyn was another - and now the name that was just in the tip of my tongue is gone for a UK poster who always had the 411 on London gents.

Yes, thanks for reminding me of JTBrooklyn, I had forgotten about him and I usually liked his postings. Is he still with us?

  4. The college I graduated from had a large Greek fraternity & sorority system and still does. I enjoyed being a brother, met and made good friends for life. Even though we all graduated in the 1980's Facebook has been good to facilitate our connections and brought a lot of us back together and I still go to the house when I am there (rarely) for football games or for a major anniversary banquet celebration. Actually I was at a brother's home for Labor Day that lives about 15 miles from my house. I have met brothers throughout my life from chapters from all over America and most of them had impressive careers, it was a pleasure to meet them and have our fraternity bond. The chapter at my college is still large and the most prestigious fraternity chapter on campus, I look at current chapter and realize, I could never survive the current GPA requirements, regardless, they recently posted the current Fall Pledge class has something like 45 pledges. It means a lot to me that my chapter is strong and thriving and still very well respected by all faculty and students. I have included my chapter in my Will.

It’s funny how I was 100% involved with my fraternity for 4 years and had the best experience. I thought I would be connected to my friends for a lifetime, but once I graduated, my social group changed and I haven’t been in contact with anyone. I had a desire to reconnect with a few, especially those from my pledge class so I did some searches on LinkedIn, social media and thru other search engines. I found quite a few, but haven’t pursued much since. Not sure why I haven’t followed thru. Seems kind of awkward to reappear after 30+ years? I wish I would have stayed connected to those I was close to

Yes I joined Sigma Chi during the second semester of my freshman year and moved into the house at the beginning of my sophomore year.  To this day I don't understand why I was invited to join.  It was one of the most prestigious fraternities at my school and I was not their usual type.  I had tons of fun and totally enjoyed the experience.  Unfortunately over the years I have lost track of all of my fraternity brothers.  My guess is that many of them are long dead.

    Okay, I'll go first.

I want to look like a young Christopher Atkins.  In between The Blue Lagoon and A Night in Heaven.

I want to live in the Village in the late 90s Manhattan.

And I want to have sex with every soap opera hunk that existed (soaps were still quite a big deal in 1999), starting with Jesse Metcalfe from Passions and then making my way to Eddie Cibrian from Sunset Beach, Victor Webster from Days of Our Lives, and maybe a pit stop at Chippendales to cap off a really fabulous evening of debauchery.

Damn, Christopher Atkins in Blue Lagoon made my naughty parts tingle...I think he might been one of the first guys I found myself attracted to.

seems like a majority missed @bigvalboy and @Fin Fang Foom - gotta start reading their posts

Fin Fang Foom was very talented at wordsmithing, I would not be surprised if he were a professional writer. The funniest post he ever did was where he broke down line-by-line a review someone did of Benjamin Nichols on a Key West trip. I have searched and can not find that thread, but it was creatively written and a damn good laugh.

  9. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon videos of these four old gay men on the Grindr channel on YouTube. All four live in Palm Springs and Grindr has them on short videos, I think they have done about 40 so far.

Do yourself a favor and go to Youtube and search for "old gays" and watch a few of their videos. I have never binge watched anything prior to seeing their videos, but I couldn't stop as they brought some fun in my life. So simple to watch and so refreshing!
