You've been given plenty of examples of when support (sometimes monetary sometimes not) are given and affection (sometimes sexual and sometimes not) is returned. That should be enough to make you think about your narrow view of the subject, or at least give you pause, but I really don't give a shit who you call an "escort."

My conceptions regarding rough trade has nothing whatsoever to do with race or ethic backround.

Don't pay attention to the naysayers. So many jaded, negative people raining on other's parades.
I have had a long-standing "relationship" with a beautiful young man from SA who does NOT want "payments".
He enjoys my company, nice dinners at restaurants he could not otherwise afford, a weekend get-away, another planned soon. I've offered to help him financially but he refuses. He's a college graduate, works full-time, is level headed with career goals clearly laid out. Agreed. In the very first moments of the episode I thought it would’ve been very cool if the production designer had played off the chronology of the show and created an environment that in some way mimicked the original series.
 
Another thought: since Discovery is set only ten years earlier than the original series, all of those earlier characters would be alive and part of Star Fleet; Kirk, Spock, etc, etc.

As I’ve written before I have 2 very sweet young men from SA I see on a regular basis and the relationships are simply wonderful.
