The pressure from others and from oneself to get "off-meds", meds that are working, can have dire consequences. I often think of David Foster Wallace. The medication for depression, and other mental illnesses, he'd used for decades was becoming almost obsolete when compared with newer medication. And, so, he changed to the newer medication which allowed him to streamline his medications. Unfortunately, the newer stuff didn't work as well, he went back to his old medication, but it just didn't work like it did before he stopped it. Shortly after, he hanged himself and the world, and his wife and dog, lost a genius. As to the original post, Escorts take medication, just like people.

I just saw him two weeks ago at WeHo Starbucks. I used to talk to him during lunch at French Market. An INCREDIBLE flirt. :-)

I find the pervasive feeling taken advantage of problem interesting. At 21 I was leaving for Costa Rica to do some field work. I was also flat broke. A friend who was coming to Minneapolis from Honduras for the summer agreed he was going to rent my apartment at $150/month while I was gone. Two days before my departure, he told me he was going to live in his parent's empty for-sale house in Minnetonka instead. I was incredibly hurt. Part of that hurt was the panic, I did not have $1 to play with, much less $150. I ended up selling skis, back pack, climbing gear, all sorts of stuff at Play It Again sports, at a HUGE loss, just to make up the money the day before I left. My point is, we had an arrangement, he backed out of it, and I felt taken advantage of LARGELY because I had no resources. What I don't understand, is when people who have resources allow themselves to feel taken advantage of, or, rather, I get it, but I think that people should be able, maybe with therapy, to think past it. My blindspot on this problem may stem from the fact that I've never had money. I can't know what it feels like to have money and to feel like others have their eyes on it. Still, as I've said here before, if you have the means, gift to people, don't loan. (Fuck Polonius, he's dead...and made up). If you can afford to let a hot young guy stay at your place rent free for a few months, for a year, for the foreseeable future, forever, do so. If you can help someone, and it's no big financial cost to you, maybe try to adjust your feelings and take a look at the benefits....to both of you.

You are of course very savvy, go for it. I'm curious, why are you not sharing your bedroom as part of the "rent"? I know you want to give him his space by giving him his own room, and that's very thoughtful of you, but can't you give him his space and cuddle every night?

Completely surprised to hear this. Had absolutely no idea there were ANY working men on the streets anymore. Good for you. The absolute hay (HEY!) day of LA street hiring was on Selma Avenue in the 70s. The center of that universe was the Gold Cup coffeeshop. It was wonderful when John Water's mentioned the street, the action, the coffeeshop by name recently on...I think it was on Bill Maher, maybe elsewhere. Good for him. This will be nostalgic, or informative, or both. Enjoy: XXXXXXX---OOPS, I had no idea what that website was all about before I posted it, it's gone now. Oh believe me it's much more insidious than that. They have users on Amazon, Yelp, Tripadvisor posting MULTIPLE fake reviews to make it look as if it's credible. It's a whole industry, this world SUCKS! :-)

Definitely needed a big star or two for there to be any hope of it making any real box office. Oh well.

Sounds awful. Can't imagine how terrible being imprisoned would be.

I'm unsure if the Four Seasons ever received Michelin stars, regardless I regret deeply not eating there more often. Never would I have thought that place would close, and the pre-theater menu price was reasonable. Never wait, always do.

I've met many many men with micro-penises. It still functions like a dick, it still has all the same nerve locations, SO if you encounter one just keep that in mind :-) I'm very good at cocksucking, so I feel terrible when one's too big for me to FULLY deepthroat, I kinda feel like a failure. I would say that in general men are way way too scared of choking on dick. What's the big deal, really? You are not going to choke, you are not going to die, you are not going to be uncomfortable for that long. Yes, snot will fly from your nose and your mouth. So? Yes, your eyes will water. So? Yes, you will FEEL like you are going to die. But you're not going to and eventually, someday, those feelings will lessen and eventually vanish. There truly is only one way to get to Carnegie Hall. I mean, are you REALLY a swimmer if year after year you insist on keeping your head above water? I would say no, not a true swimmer. Choke a bit, your body will thank you later and so will his.

In my early 30s my quads were about as muscular as quads can be without steroids (they weren't competition level beautiful of course) . And one day, or over a few months I guess, I realized it was just awful. Not worth it. Even following a HardGainer routine where I'd only lift weights, at highest intensity, twice a week, I still felt physically sick for days after a squat session, and I did in my 20s as well. Steroids would have improved the speed of my recovery, but I wasn't willing. As beautiful as they were, and you can look at the archives of rodhagen.com to see them, and as proud of them as I was, I feel like I lost out on a lot of pleasure in my life by working so hard on them for so long. Lots of mountain biking days and snowboard days and rock climbing days and swimming days and surfing days were denied to me because I was simply too sore. Nothing I can do about that now.

If you use a proxy server you can read the details of the reviews on RentMen, and while NOBODY details the encounters as in depth as in the Hooboy and then Daddys days, you'll likely find the full texts helpful. Unicorn, I love that you think Rentmen should be as incorruptible as yelp. :-) both because Yelp and tripadvisor services are, and always have been, quite corrupted by businesses paid to post bogus reviews, good and bad, and also because en-mass we escorts pay Rentmen more than clients do and therefore they work to make us happy. It's not a flaw, it's a feature. Which is why Hooboy long ago thought it was very very important that any useful review-site be free.

When it's a friend or family and you can afford it, gift, don't loan. Loans create problems and seething resentments between the best of us. If they are proud and push back against the gift, promising to pay you back in time, try to come up with some bullshit compensation that isn't money, but is of value to both of you.

Very sorry to hear that 's happening for you. Great for the rest of us that that's a rare reaction, but again sorry it's complicated for you.

Why are there so many bisexuals all of a sudden?
Rod Hagen replied to Tandy Newton's topic in The Deli
More people are claiming to be more fluid. That's not necessarily the same thing. Additionally, I push back against the change being a sign of progression, just as I would push against someone one else who'd claim it's a regression. If the shift is happening, It's simply change, neither good nor bad.- 21 replies

It's a great book. But I've heard from enough people whom I trust that the movie is just cruel and, most importantly, not good. Not going to watch it.

Advice for a newbie investor?

I HATE this stuff. BORING. But, whoever recommended The Elements of Investing. Thank you, it's a great book. -
Would you only hire providers vaccinated for monkeypox?
Rod Hagen replied to a topic in Men's Health
It's funny/awful now because we are scrutinizing each other's bodies as if we're back to the KS days! I'm not saying we shouldn't, I'm just saying it sucks. (Let's wait till this rash goes away. It's not a rash, I don't know what the fuck it is, but it's been there for 63 years. Ok, let's just wait anyway.!!) -
I've talked about it before, but I am a big fan of children's liquid benadryl. Because it's liquid, it works quickly, and I don't notice much of a hangover in the morning (some do, but you can lower the dose). I also like being able to control the dose easily, since it's liquid. If I feel like I need a lot of help, or my sleep needs to be very condensed, I'll take a lot. If I'm having reflux and I want to be able to fall back asleep quickly if reflux wakes me up at night, I'll take a small amount before bed. There is a possible link b/w anticholinergics and dementia, but I've read the studies, talked to my Doctor, and we aren't particularly concerned. I'm also a big fan of Ambien, when needed. Also, I highly recommend daily Melatonin if you have difficulty sleeping. Melatonin is not, what I would consider, a hypnotic, it will not put you to sleep the way antihistamines and prescription medicine will, but it may aid your falling asleep and falling back to sleep if you wake up. Of course, Melatonin supplements are not regulated, so there are no guarantees, efficacy or safety wise. Some people report super fucked up dreams from these supplements, and Melatonin Supps can also cause headaches, but the good news is there are many brands, so you should be able to find one brand and one dose that works for you. I like RemFresh; they claim it's time released. Most important to good sleep is improving your sleep hygiene. Keep your apartment cool, do not eat after 8, keep a urinal next to the bed so you don't have to get out of bed to pee which makes falling back asleep more difficult and is, as you get older, quite dangerous, ear plugs, eyemask and/or black out curtains, read from a paper book for a bit before you go to sleep. If you suffer from reflux, raise the head of your bed by 6" (there are reflux pillows, but they are controversial, raising your bed is universally accepted as best option). If you have an anxious mind, you can keep pen and paper next to your bed so that if you think of something, you can write it down and then put it out of your mind, because you know you will deal with it when you wake. If you feel lonely you can buy body pillows to hold all night (sadly, there are no pillows that will hold you). If you are anxious, consider a heavy anxiety blanket. And MOST importantly keep that fucking phone out of your bedroom. Sleep well.

So all weekend I've been hearing and reading that Bros is "Unrealistic", and one or two ppl in this thread echoed that. What I don't understand is what's "Unrealistic" about the movie?

Saw it last night at The Grove. Was packed, mostly gay or gay-aligned crowd. It's very good. It's much less a "Romantic Comedy", those movies are a pretty low bar, and more a Judd Aptow comedy (he's a producer) that happens to be gay. Although popular on the coasts, it was not so in Middle America and it performed poorly this weekend, which is too bad. I recommend going out to see it, you'll have a good night.

Did anyone see this when it was making the festival rounds? I've reached out via their contact page and also on twitter to find out if it's available anywhere, and they never got back to me. There are clips on youtube, looks interesting. Movie

This book was amazing. Just finished it. I've never been a bar person, but one of the many things I think he did a fantastic job of was clarifying for me my disconnect with millenials and especially Zillenials: “The kids today, it turns out, want rules. They need a provisional constitution for what their new spaces will be,” he writes. “We did not go out to be safe. I didn’t, anyway,” he says. “I went out to take risks.” There was another great quote, summarized here: Jeremy and his friends and the generation before them looked to older gays for guidance. However, today's gay youth are not apprentices, they are disrupters. I love that. Highly recommend the book.
