Just for the fun of it, we watched the original movie of West Side Story from 1961 this afternoon. It's just as good, if not better, than the current release. I actually liked the 1961 sets better, as well as the performance of the song about Officer Krupke. The cast was really good on that. Richard Beymer as Tony was the cutest guy in the cast.

We saw West Side Story this afternoon and really liked it. Sure, some of it is a stretch- those singing and dancing gangsters to start- but the essence of the original is beautifully captured. And, speaking of beautiful, Ansel Elgort worked for me! There's a place for us!

Of the approximately 150 books I read this year, I gave 5-star reviews to 21 of them. If I picked just the top three, they are Razorblade Tears by S.A. Crosby. Ascension by Oliver Harris, and Alpha: Eddie Gallagher and the War For the Soul of the Navy Seals.

I just finished Andrew Holleran's The Kingdom of Sand. It's an ARC, so I won't say much about it, but the topics are aging and dying... It's his first novel in 13 years.

Amor Towles' The Lincoln Highway should be titled A Book of Tangents. He is constantly going off on one!

Lots of experience with Studio One. The hottest guys who showed no interest in hooking up until the minutes before closing time. Then a flurry of activity. For many guys, their task was simply to look beautiful without acknowledging anyone.
