It is peak season for Palm Springs in April, with many events scheduled.

Luckily it was only 9 pm here when I watched. There was only one other channel with a NYE Live program, @Unicorn, and that was from Miami. New York is the place to be, not Miami. Those chyrons that blocked my view of the dropping ball apparently had several vulgarities that CNN missed: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/cnn-raunchy-new-years-eve-tweeters_n_61d0d616e4b0bb04a639b474

So I like to watch the ball drop on Times Square. For me, that starts the new year. But CNN had Andy Cohen, who simply isn't funny, and Andersen Old-Man Cooper to get us through. I muted most of it. Then the ball drops, but we can't see it go all the way down since the CNN screen has a chyron spitting out Twitter comments. Auld Lang Syne starts to play, but is quickly cut off by Sinatra's New York, New York. I went to bed.

I am going to drive to Palm Springs.

I won $40 on a $20 dollar ticket, but the $10 ticket paid nothing. I did see a ticket once that paid $100,000. It wasn't mine.

There is so much contradictory information out there. Still no info as to how omicron affects those with HIV or diabetes or old age.

Another Warning To Be Careful Who You Pick Up At A Party....
+ Lucky replied to + azdr0710's topic in The Lounge
People don't advertise their rap sheets, but sometimes circumstances make you suspicious. when two guys at a Rio bar latched onto me, with no apparent reason other than to be "friendly," I ditched them as soon as I could. It just didn't make sense that they would have such interest from the moment they saw me...or imagined my wallet. -

How was the victim supposed to know about their rap sheets? -
I forgot to mention that one needs to keep watching when the credits roll as there are two funny epilogues.

Leo Di Caprio and Timothy Chalamet are not just eye candy here. The movie is a hoot. I laughed out loud throughout. Highly recommended.

The show has closed early due to COVID. Trevor: The Musical has ended its Off-Broadway run. On the morning of December 20, the show, which was originally booking at Stage 42 through April 2022, announced a closing date of January 2. Later that day, the show canceled its final two weeks of performances after Covid-19 cases were detected in the company. https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/news-features/trevor-the-musical-closes-early-off-broadway

Thirty minutes into Being The Ricardos we were bored, so watched Fair Haven on Amazon. It's good.

Just for the fun of it, we watched the original movie of West Side Story from 1961 this afternoon. It's just as good, if not better, than the current release. I actually liked the 1961 sets better, as well as the performance of the song about Officer Krupke. The cast was really good on that. Richard Beymer as Tony was the cutest guy in the cast.

No one questioned your integrity.

We saw West Side Story this afternoon and really liked it. Sure, some of it is a stretch- those singing and dancing gangsters to start- but the essence of the original is beautifully captured. And, speaking of beautiful, Ansel Elgort worked for me! There's a place for us!

Of the approximately 150 books I read this year, I gave 5-star reviews to 21 of them. If I picked just the top three, they are Razorblade Tears by S.A. Crosby. Ascension by Oliver Harris, and Alpha: Eddie Gallagher and the War For the Soul of the Navy Seals.

I just finished Andrew Holleran's The Kingdom of Sand. It's an ARC, so I won't say much about it, but the topics are aging and dying... It's his first novel in 13 years.
