  1. Atlantis cruises receive some publicity in the NYTimes today. Not all good, either. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/14/travel/gay-cruise-atlantis-covid.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage&section=Travel One passenger is quoted: “It’s time to start living our lives again and vaccines and tests allow us to do that. This isn’t Covid 2020,” said Andre Mayer, a graphic designer from Germany who paid more than $4,000 for the weeklong cruise on board Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. “This is going to be the wildest party for our community in two years. I’m talking dirty dancing, sex, drugs, raves, orgies and sweet, sweet freedom.” Atlantis is sticking t its "no refund within 60 days" policy. "While the company does not offer refunds, it says that the health and safety of its guests is a top priority and it will be enforcing Royal Caribbean’s health and safety protocols, which includes a mask mandate indoors except while eating and drinking and in crowded spaces outdoors. Royal Caribbean officials say that while the Omicron variant has driven up cases on board its ships in recent weeks, most infections have been mild and have not resulted in severe illness. Still, with a growing number of crew members and passengers contracting the virus, the cruise line, like other cruise companies, has canceled several voyages this month in what it said was “an abundance of caution” as a result of “ongoing Covid-related circumstances.”
  2. Not at all! 1962 was like yesterday, when all our troubles seemed so far away.
  3. I am on Windows 11.
  4. Unrelated to this site is my keyboard's occasional skipping of letters I type, or worse, duplicating one letter repeatedly. Like this kkkkeybord My first thought is that the keyboard is dirty. So I clean it, the problem goes away, but quickly comes back. So I switched to another keyboard. I had the same problem! So, is it the keyboard or the computer? I did buy a new keyboard, but am afraid to take it out of the box until that question is answered. As you can see, my keyboard behaved admirably while typing this post! Thanks for any advice!
  5. Guardian: On Monday, Der Spiegel claimed that when it scanned the QR code belonging to Djokovic’s PCR test at 1.19pm German time it said: “Test result Negative.” However an hour later, after another scan, it said: “Positive.” They are talking about the same test, not a second test.
  6. I read Anthem these last two days. It is a novel set in the very near future where the threat of climate change is much more serious, and the potential civil war is at hand in the US. The pandemic is over, but a suicide epidemic among young people sets in. Have we created a world that our young cannot live in? Hawley's biting social and political commentary skews left, but just about everybody takes a hit. His insights are fantastic, so I recommend this novel for those who like to read fiction. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/04/books/review/anthem-noah-hawley.html
  7. I didn't see the + sign. I just hit "quote" again.
  8. So his test on December 16th was originally negative, but an hour later marked positive. He then carried on as if negative.
  9. Hooboy was not interested in using his real name on his site. His name was Hooboy for us.
  10. Maybe we could survey the members for whom English is not a first language and see what they think, and what language they would want to use here.

  19. Watching baseball on ESPN is nauseating. The announcers think the show is about them, not the game.
  20. From the LA Times: Erik Braverman will march down an aisle leading out of the Dodgers’ dugout. Jonathan Cottrell will march down an aisle leading out of the visitors’ dugout. Together they will meet on the pitching mound in front of about 80 family members and close friends to engage in an ancient ritual, on ancient soil, in a moment of great enlightenment. Braverman, a Dodgers senior vice president, and Cottrell, a software engineer, are officially uniting on Jan. 21 in one of the crown jewels of what was once the most intolerant of sports. The two men are getting married at Dodger Stadium. “Hopefully this will show that in a sport like baseball, even if you don’t feel you fit in, you can always find a place,” said Braverman, senior vice president of marketing, communications and broadcasting. https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2022-01-07/erik-braverman-marriage-dodger-stadium-lgbtq-community

    Rimming?

Have him hit the shower! If you mask the smell, the germs might stay. A gay doc once told me that rimming is God's gift to gay men. Don't spoil it by not cleaning up first!
  22. Don't Look Up is the most watched movie on Netflix- ever! From WSJ: “Don’t Look Up” is topping the charts. The film had more than 152 million hours of viewership on Netflix Inc.
