I concur with your assessment here @mike carey. Spacey refused to come out of the closet for years despite the open secret in Hollywood that he was gay. Admittedly, he was concerned about his career as many gay actors have similar situations. It’s the lifetime of predatory behavior that makes Kevin Spacey a reprehensible human being.
 
This is not the only story about his creepy behavior in public and private. Some years ago he was in DC for a film shoot. He would visit JR’s on 17th Street and would hit up every young guy in the joint. He was half drunk by the time he arrived. A friend witnessed his behavior of staring at guys to the point of making them uncomfortable.
 
Spacey didn’t come out of the closet willingly and has tried to spin the situation to play victim in some respect. Spacey has become a pathetic figure. It’s unfortunate that a man of such talent has fallen into disgrace.

Obviously I don't know the specifics of this party, but unless it's clear that the young men were open to such an approach I think he was out of line. There is nothing wrong with age discordant relationships but objecting to what Spacey did as stigmatising such relationships is an extremely long bow. Going uninvited into a room full of strangers at basically a private party is problematic although not unacceptable. His behaviour there, as described, is to me the use of a power differential (his status, not his age) to pressure young men to give him their phone numbers. He seemed to have one objective, and that was not to socialise in the hope of getting lucky. He's not 'just anyone', he's a celebrity. In that context, predatory and unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.

I think the point is that we just don’t know what is what.
 
Plus, the Daily Mail is a celebrity scandal tabloid, so they probably do know.

Kathy Bates was photographed this week looking like a new woman after reportedly losing 60 pounds following treatment for cancer.
 
The 70-year-old actress, who beat ovarian and breast cancer, is currently battling lymphedema, which she developed after getting lymph node surgery. The condition has caused painful swelling in her limbs.
 
But recently, the “American Horror Story” star said she is “feeling great,” according to People.
 
“I’ve lost a lot of weight and it’s really helped with my symptoms,” she told the outlet. “I just still have to wear compression sleeves or guard against nicks and bug bites because that can lead to sepsis.”
 
Bates, who was once told to keep her health struggles a secret to protect her career, has become a national spokesperson for Lymphatic Education & Research Network to spread the word, as symptoms can often be misdiagnosed as simple weight gain, she said.
 
“Some doctors think it’s cosmetic and not life-threatening …So it goes undiagnosed and the disease progresses for years and gets worse and worse,” she added.
 
Bates was honored at the WebMD Health Heroes event this month as the 2019 “Game Changer” for her efforts to increase awareness of the condition.
