Anyone else notice that while the escort quoted said most of his clients are older men, he also said they're not unattractive or desperate and see escorts because it's convenient? It bugs me every time I see a post predicated on the thought that older men are unattractive and that's why they hire or that escorts are acting the entire time because their clients who are older are just not attractive.

I'm not denying the effects of aging, but damn. Talk about lack of self-esteem. It's not just one poster, it's many, and thinking that looking and being young is the key to sexual success is not conducive to happiness and self-satisfaction as one ages.

I don't remember. I'm sure it would have been Dewey. Public libraries rarely use LOC.

The message in pretty much any self-development literature is the same. Some authors state it more compellingly than others, but it doesn't vary much.

I loved "The Magic Mountain." I think I even read it twice.

I used to like to binge-read an author that I liked, reading everything by that author I could find in one uninterrupted succession. One author I did that with was Ursula K. Le Guinn. I especially liked the cycle dealing with the Hainish and the Ekumen.

I also did that with William Gibson's cyberpunk novels.

Another book I really enjoyed was Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential."

I really liked his writing. And I was doubly impressed with it knowing that English wasn't his native language.

I read "The Cancer Ward" also and liked it. As a matter of fact, I think I read it twice, I liked it so much.

I remember, in the 70s and 80s I was very big on Jerzy Kosinski. He's been dead for awhile.

This is a great thread. I used to read voraciously, but now have difficulty maintaining my interest in a book long enough to finish it. The last fiction I read was "Snow" by Orhan Pamuk. I got bogged down in it about two thirds of the way through, and left it laying for months, then finally finished it. That says more about my reading habits than it does about whether or not it was a good book.

Actually, "Buddenbrooks" is a book I have meant to read for years. I just ordered a copy.

I said "I love you"to an escort once. It was just a misstep. I didn't really mean "I LOVE YOU." I meant more that I loved what we did together, or loved our time together, or some such. He is a special man, but I'm not in love with him.

I don't think I have ever seen a straight escort. I'm very curious, though, and probably will at some time. He would have to be someone who is fully interactive though - I like it all, the more the better. Because TH appears to be fully interactive, he might be a good candidate.

Late middle age (or early old age) is an interesting territory to negotiate. You have to be careful not to give in to the pressure to apologize for getting old and to stay out of the way of younger people. But you also have to not delude yourself about the fact, that yes, you really are getting old. "Aging gracefully" cuts two ways. It can mean behaving the way other people think you should be acting at your age, or it can mean being the best you can be, for your age. I was more than 60 years old when I got my first tattoo. I realized I was finally old enough to get tattooed if I felt like it. A youngish straight guy who I am friendly with asked me if I might be having a mid-life crisis. I just smiled, shrugged my shoulders and said, "Could be."

But he has total control over how he behaves. In controlling his behavior, he can achieve a degree of mastery of his feelings, as you found.

I have an enjoyable Christmas Day ritual - I go to the Jewish Community Center to work out. In addition to the goyim like me who visit once a year, the place is packed with nice Jewish boys, many of which would be entirely suitable for presentation to mom.

You might try Tyger. He's in his late 40's. Skill, imagination, very agreeable disposition.
