Agree completely. It seemed your premise could have been better stated

Not surprising. Canadians can think. And they still have a functioning government. -
A reminder why we can't risk exposure to Covid 19

We have an idea. The statisticians tell us that if lockdown had started one week earlier, there would have been 36000 fewer deaths. If lockdown had started two weeks earlier, there would have been 85000 fewer deaths. -

Huh, funny . . . pseudoscience is often used that way too. -
What is the real world and what are real married people? It seems that the premise of your remark is that gay married couples who may have found an unconventional way to manage their joint finances aren't real married couples.

A reminder why we can't risk exposure to Covid 19
Rudynate replied to Old Blue's topic in Men's Health
Agreed. But it should be restarted in a smart way, without gangs of armed militia, fudging or suppression of public health data, and full recognition of the fact that coronavirus is a profoundly infectious agent and that being stupid about things will only put the nation back into lockdown. -

I will. I'm reminded of a book title- "Survival of the Wisest." -

That may be true, but 100,000 deaths is 100,000 deaths. Within the space of a few weeks, anyone would agree that that is a singular event. -

It can run as long as the virus can find hosts to infect. There are more than a few professionals who think this will be an "event" several years in duration. You just said upthread that the pandemic is likely to be recurring. And you're in good company. Many public health professionals think so too. -
If you stick with it for even a couple weeks it will start to feel a lot better- 3 or 4 times a week.

Just wait. In mid-March, Alabamans were pretty smug about their numbers and the fact that what was good for large urban centers lie NYC wasn't applicable to Alabamans. Now, Alabama is a hot spot. -

One doesnt "catch" heart disease simply by talking to somebody else with heart disease for a few minutes. False equivalence. -

And even people who don't need to be hospitalized say that the illness was a mofo, something they never want to go through again. -
That's what we're doing too.

Maybe they're lucky. Time will tell. I'm a gym fanatic, but I'll let somebody else be the canary. A gym I occasionally go to in another part of the state sent me their plans for reopening. I think I might I might feel comfortable there: wipes and hand sanitizer at every piece of equipment, temp and symptom checks on entry, air scrubbers with UV, extra cleaning crew, no showers or lockers, no spotting, maximum class sizes, maximum total occupancy, total pieces of equipment reduced to allow social distancing, the list just went on. Who's going to pay for all that? Going to the gym will become a luxury pursuit.

Actually, I made spaghetti with meat sauce a couple weeks ago for the first time in probably twenty years. I used Marcella Hazan's famous recipe for tomato sauce, adding an onion. Cooked the meat separately and added to the sauce for the last few minutes. Definitely not your mother's spaghetti with meat sauce. I also got nostalgic for 70's style pasta primavera. I found a recipe that didn't use the usual Alfredo-type sauce that it was usually made with. It was really superb. I told my husband we just needed to listen to Pachelbel's Canon and have pink champagne with it and we could image we were having brunch in a fern bar.

Makes me think of Cincinnati Chili. Italian Bolgonese sauce is kind of a high-end meat sauce. It uses uses beef that has been poached in milk and then finely minced and added to a tomato sauce with red wine and seasoned with something like a mirepoix.

Aka spaghetti w/ meat sauce

You're lucky you live in a country with a functioning government.

Will you raise your donation amount to make up for the pandemic?
Rudynate replied to Smurof's topic in Questions About Hiring
It depends if they want be right and poor or if they want to relax their standards and make money. I'm a self employed professional and I have, if anything, improved my cash flow by offering "pandemic pricing." -

A lot of people don't read profiles, at least not carefully. I'm not an escort, but I have profiles on a couple of hookup sites. More often than not guys contact me who would have already realized that we werent a match if they had read my profile. It's just part of this world. -
Easier said than done.

My husband and I have used Hello Fresh for years and like it a lot. They're not perfect - sometimes delivery gets screwed up, a couple times we've gotten spoiled food, portion size is occasionally skimpy, but, for the most part, they deliver a great product and we enjoy being able fix restaurant quality meals at home without doing any shopping for them. We have tried other vendors: Blue apron - food quality was OK, but portion size was - small - we both have big appetites and we were constantly hungry. Sunbasket - food quality was outstanding, recipes were innovative and interesting, portion size- tiny. We starved to death with Sunbasket. Home chef - very nice food quality, interesting recipes, portion size was generous. We ended up canceling because it wasn't our kind of food - pretty rich - heavy on butter, cream, cheese, red meat.
