I think that's on oversimplification of the costs involved. The big cost in hormone replacement therapy is not the hormones. It's the testing. Expect ~$1k per year for lab tests. Labs may or may not be covered by insurance. Kaiser docs are totally clueless when it comes to testing for HRT. They think it's sufficient to check your total testosterone now and again.
