It seems clear to me that there are two kinds of providers. By choice and by necessity. 
1) Enjoys people and likes what they do (several of whom we see on these boards), or enjoys the extra money this side hustle provides, and doesn't dislike the work or the customers.
2) Those who have to do this because of a drug habit, or lack of skills or intelligence to make it in the "legitimate" business world. These you will hear about like the provider referenced here,  or even on this site when you feel the contempt certain providers have for clients.
It's human to feel sympathy for the latter group, but don't hire them. Just give them a donation if you must. It will save you the disappointment.
