More than the already high $1,500/hr rate? Wow.

Sometimes I'm amused by factors that other people find important that don't matter to me at all. I don't want to walk into a house/apartment/hotel room that stinks, but I couldn't care less whether it's 100% tidy or somewhat cluttered or whether it's a 5-star hotel or a basic motel. I'm much more concerned about (a) the looks of the guy, (b) the personality of the guy, and (c) his ability to deliver what he advertised.
-
I don't know whether his photos are retouched, but if you compare his looks in scenes from several years ago to more recent stuff you'll see that he's changed a lot. He has a lot of tattoos now. I know some like that look, but for me the extensiveness of his tattoos seriously diminished his attractiveness.

My experience with him was several years ago, but since I didn't chime in on the previous thread I will state here that, unlike some of the posters in the previous thread, I had no problem with Vince. He looked like his photos and he delivered the topping I wanted. Was it an amazing experience? No. I hired him only once and only hire a guy a second time if I am truly wowed. But I still recall enough of the session to say that I was satisfied.

Alex formerly Mr Cambaz and formerly Efkan

That's really horrible, especially since most of his clients are likely not in a position to win a fight with him. Not that I typically advocate physical violence, but I wouldn't shed a tear if I learned he attempted to do that to someone who ended up beating the s*** out of him. He's basically no different than a thug on the street robbing people if what you wrote is true. -
His Rentmen photos are not very good in a number of ways, but mostly because he looks angry. I don't understand why so many men don't want to smile in the photos they use in their ads. I think a nice smile is much easier to pull off than that "I'm going to scowl at the camera and make it sexy" because the latter just usually makes the guy look like a jerk.

Yes, I probably shouldn't have used the word "budget" as that implies I'm actively shopping for something. I meant to convey that if I add up how much my current system costs, it's probably around $25,000 (though I spent less on it because I purchased some of it used).

He went from fitness model to fatness model. What do you think?

I know some guys find that bodybuilder contest shape attractive, but I'm not among them. I wouldn't want him leaner than in his lean photos. I consider that type of physique exceptionally attractive -- muscular without being too huge, no veins popping, doesn't look like he desperately needs a drink of water. -
Well, the entire concept is flawed. How can one man be "the sexiest alive" when there are so many different types who are sexy -- not to mention, of course, that there's no way anyone in this world has seen even the majority of men who are alive at any given time. A lot of the time I look at People's picks for Sexiest Man Alive and don't see it myself. In the case of Paul Rudd, however, all I can say is it's about time they acknowledged his yumminess.

I haven't been out to a gay bar (with the exception of going to a drag brunch at Midnight Sun) since the pandemic started, so I don't have specific recommendations. What I can say is that it's very easy to check out the majority of the city's gay bars by simply walking around a very small area in the Castro (most of the bars are within a few blocks of each other) and a slightly larger area South of Market. Unlike a lot of places where you'd actually have to get in your car or catch a ride if you wanted to check out what else was happening, it's very easy to sample a lot of bars in a very short period of time -- especially if you just want to walk in, see what the vibe is like, and then head to the next one without buying a drink until you find a place you actually want to spend some time in. My pre-pandemic recommendations would have been: Castro: Moby Dick. Usually nice bartenders, some of whom have been there a long time. Nice fish tank to look at if you get bored, but if you go when it's at all busy there will surely be some nice looking men to look at. The Mix. Popular and very mixed clientele. Back patio is usually too smokey for me, though. 440 and The Edge can both be fun, though The Edge went down in ranking for me after the place sold and the new owners made it less sleazy. (Before the sale, it was the only remaining bar in the Castro that had the kind of "edge" that's more common at South of Market bars.) If you want to dance to loud modern music, there's Badlands. That's another tragedy for me -- the old Badlands was a lot of fun and cruisy; after it was reborn as a dance club I stopped going. South of Market. Powerhouse. Different things happening different nights, but always got busy on weekend nights. Some frisky action in the back room, though that was supposedly forbidden. Hole In The Wall. Though I liked it's previous location more and it seemed to become more tame after it moved, I still love this bar. The decor is one of a kind so I think it's worth a visit just to look around. Beyond that, more than any other bar I've been to I would say this is one where the phrase "let your freak flag fly" applies. That sometimes is a bit off-putting for me because I'm only a moderate freak (lol), but I generally enjoy it because it seems quintessentially San Francisco. The Eagle. Probably don't need to write more about this bar since most people know of it. I live just a few minutes away and I think they have reopened, though their status as a going concern has been in doubt off and on for the past couple of years.

I rarely drink any more, but was recently on vacation and ordered Johnnie Walker Black. The bartender (an extremely sexy young man) remarked that not that many customers drink Scotch, which resulted in us having a nice conversation about various liquors. I guess I hadn't really thought about it before, but I think one of the reasons why Scotch and other bourbons/whiskeys are my go-to when it comes to alcohol is that there is a huge range of flavor. Sometimes I like a good single malt neat. Sometimes I want something with a bit more bite and will get something like Johnny Black on ice. Others are great for a mixed drink since they stand up to the mixer, but I wouldn't want to drink them on their own. Once you get above the truly horrible bottom barrel vodkas, they all taste alike to me. I've never developed a like for gin, so I cannot speak to that. Tequila definitely presents some range of flavor, but not nearly as much as whiskey/bourbon.

Nice to know there's at least one other person here who is into sound quality. My budget is significantly lower than yours, but still probably far higher than most people would be willing to spend...maybe around $25,000 for my entire system.

Christine and the Queens have released songs in both French (her native language) and English. Even though I don't understand French I prefer listening to her in that language. Christine and the Queens - Damn, dis-moi (feat. Dâm-Funk) (Clip Officiel)

"Squid game" inspired party leaves 7 dead...
maninsoma replied to marylander1940's topic in The Lounge
I think the second headline is misleading. The violence in Panama had nothing to do with the Squid Game and more to do with long standing violence between rival gangs. I'd never heard of the Squid Game until a couple of days ago. Sounds like the series took the name of a popular South Korean children's game and turned it into a sick TV drama that glorifies violence. Not something I'd want to watch, but I guess crap like this has an audience as it's supposedly Netflix's highest rated series to date. -
I think I've given up on Mercurio after staying there many times. I understand them wanting to do things to increase revenue, but when those things result in the pool area being overrun by people not staying at the hotel it makes my stay less enjoyable. Maybe it's because of my age, but I liked the vibe of 10 years ago or so more when it was more quiet and less crowded. It was still fun but wasn't party central, which seems to be what they are trying to make Mercurio now.

I scrolled through some photos. This reboot seems to be missing the joy of the original series. Why are all of their faces made up to make them look like they are scowling?

Too Many 'Money Up Front' Horror Stories Lately.......A Remedy??
maninsoma replied to + azdr0710's topic in The Deli
It's pretty clear that no service provider would demand money up front for a small job scheduled for same day or very soon in the future. Most service providers expect to be paid after they complete their work. For a larger job -- say a home remodel -- of course a contractor is going to expect to be paid a deposit up front, but we are talking about a job that's going to take many hours/days or perhaps even months. I don't think any client here would expect an escort to travel on their own somewhere for a week long booking with an unknown client and just assume that the client will be there and pay them at the end of the week. A deposit in that circumstance makes sense, and what form of deposit that is will be negotiated between the client and escort. Maybe the deposit will simply be the escort's transportation being arranged for him, but if I were a provider I would want more than that and think it's perfectly reasonable to expect some cash payment in advance. Otherwise, we are mostly talking about clients booking providers for an hour or two. It's absolutely reasonable for clients to balk at the notion that they need to pay in advance for appointments like this. However, I haven't seen anyone here saying that an escort isn't within his rights to ask for payment in advance but rather people are just pointing out that an escort with a policy like that will likely lose out on some business. If the escort is making an amount of income he's comfortable with while having such a policy, then he's obviously figured out that it doesn't matter what the majority of clients here believe. Good for him. I think there are just too many stories of clients being ripped off by paying in advance -- yes, mostly with guys without a history of good reviews but every once in a while an established provider who ended up going off the rails for some reason (typically drugs) -- to have most of us embrace the idea that an escort is entitled to payment prior to meeting. As to the sensitive nature of this business, that's true in both directions. It doesn't argue that one side should be given preferential treatment because of the nature of the service being contracted. -
I'm not a doctor and don't play one on TV, but my personal experience is that if I eat anything substantial it will cause the rest of my digestive tract to become active. I've always thought about it like turning on a conveyor belt, where everything gets moved down the line at the same time.

I'm not a provider, but unless you received an email from them that they banned you I wouldn't assume that's what's going on. I recently was automatically logged out of their site and was unable to log back in. Turns out their website simply stopped working with Firefox for a few days. It worked fine with Chrome during that time. Have you tried accessing your account with a different device and/or browser?

Seems fairly easy to me. It isn't like you are going out on a limb, asking about hiring him for a service he doesn't advertise. Just say that since you last hired him as a masseur you noticed he has a Rentmen ad as well and you're interested in hiring him as an escort. Just be straight-forward about it.

I think this article is helpful if someone is generally having problems playing videos. In this case, however, with only one website being problematic it seems like the issue is with that website. The easiest solution is simply to watch videos on a different website until thisvid is fixed by its administrators.

Too Many 'Money Up Front' Horror Stories Lately.......A Remedy??
maninsoma replied to + azdr0710's topic in The Deli
The remedy is not to let your little head take over. You have to be willing to walk away (or simply not book an appointment if the demand is presented in advance), not matter how much you'd like to spend time with the provider. There are plenty of other sexy guys to get hung up on one who has demands you don't want to meet. If you're a client who doesn't mind paying in advance, I'm not arguing that you shouldn't do so. I think most of us here, though, don't do pay in advance. I think the only exception I would make is if I was booking someone for a multiple-day appointment, but then I would only do that with someone I already knew. -
Prior to moving to San Francisco in the mid 1980s, I assumed there was some truth to the stereotype that gay men had more refined tastes in a variety of ways -- food, clothing, interior design, etc. I was surprised to find a lot of horrible restaurants in the Castro -- independent restaurants that served Denny's quality food. I also assumed that, being an oppressed minority, gay men were less likely to be racist and sexist. Ha!

I've learned my lesson in that regard. Some masseurs have a rate that are equivalent to an escort rate and then don't provide much in the way of service. My biggest mistake was falling for this with a guy who had only mostly naked photos and a lot of sexually suggestive text in his ad. He kept his underwear on throughout the massage, redirected me every time I tried to touch him, and gave a poor massage to boot. It was a total waste of time and money and I think the guy knew exactly what he was doing -- intentionally misleading customers (though maybe guys who were more to his liking physically got a better experience than I did). Not saying what this guy will or won't provide...just suggesting that it's best to have more communication in advance about what a masseur's service consists of rather than making an assumption based on price or even photos and ad text.
