I texted with him a bit as he was getting ready to retire. I do think he really wanted to “settle down” and retire from sex work. It’s funny how things growing up affect your life. My father loved to play (self-taught on guitar) and sing country songs! Not the pop country cross-overs of today, but that original Hank Williams type country. As a teenager I started recording Metropolitan Opera broadcasts off the radio on my old reel-to-reel recorder and began a sort of revenge for all the country he’d played while I was growing up, by playing opera broadcasts at more volume than I should have!
