  1. If you’re looking for the threads on “Today in History” check out the Media and Entertainment Forum. @RadioRobhas just given it a home of it’s own!
  2. A certificate of deposit, or CD, is a bank account that pays you a higher interest rate in return for locking your money away for a certain period of time. And, yes, it’s FDIC insured. For the past few years, with interest rates so low, there wasn’t much interest in them. People who prefer maintaining a large savings account might choose a CD over a regular savings account. You can open a CD for different periods of time, ex 3 months up to 5 years. One of the recent changes my bank is now offering is the “no penalty” CD. It allows you to withdraw your principal + interest before the maturity date with no penalty. So, if CD rates go up, you can withdraw your money and open a new CD with a higher rate. If you were to open a $100,000. 18 month CD at a 2.75% interest rate, at maturity you’d have added $4,125 in interest. Yes, there are other safe & secure ways of investing your savings and getting higher rates. The CD is just one example. The feeling on CD rates is that they’ll be going up as the Federal Reserve increases their rates.
  3. For those of you who keep a savings account, check out the new CD rates at Citibank. Effective 8/9-8/15. 1 year 2.50% 1 year no penalty for early withdrawal 1.50% 18 month 2.75%

  5. Administrator’s Reminder: Gentlemen: The topic here is “I’m getting tired of drag queens”. If you have a position to post on the topic please share but do not hijack the thread by posting a DWTS video that has nothing to do with the OP’s subject. The moderators have already received reports on this thread and are considering action if off topic messages continue to be posted. Thanks! 🙏

@Lucky, You’ll enjoy it from beginning to end. The singing, dancing, acting, staging, etc are awesome. Sit back & you’ll feel like you’re @ a MJ concert. 3 actors play different stages of his career. It’s a tribute to the “King of Pop” and the struggles he faced growing up.

  15. @CheckCar, Thanks for sharing this video. That scene was a turning point in the plot. Q. Since mobile devices are put into a locked pouch so the audience can’t record, how were you able to do this? 🤔
  16. @g56whiz, 🎈 Happy Birthday old friend. Hope all is well & have a wonderful day. Cheers! 🍻 🎂
  17. Administrator’s Message. Gentlemen: Let’s stay on topic and avoid personal attacks. 🙏
  18. @Charlie, Now you have me wondering, which strip club was that? 🤔
  19. My stockbroker of many years is leaving the firm. He took good care of me and I had full confidence in his recommendations. A new broker from the same firm has been assigned to tentatively manage my account. She has reviewed my portfolio and asked to set up an appointment to meet. In preparing for this meeting I’m working on a list of questions to ask her. Since I haven’t interviewed a broker in many years could some of you suggest questions I should ask. Thanks 🙏
  20. @Cock Eyed Optimist, Glad to hear you’ll soon be in NYC. What shows are you planning on seeing? As for bars in the area, @foxyand I usually go to Hardware or Social Atlas 🥊, however, there are many more in that area. Just look for the pride flag. We usually go on Wednesdays after seeing a matinee. To strike up a conversation just put your Playbill on the bar and someone will ask about the show you just saw 🎭. Enjoy your time in NYC 🍎.
  21. @skynyc, Welcome back! You’ve been MIA for a few years. Glad to read your take on the Broadway shows. Hope all is well. As for Funny Girl, yes, I have a ticket to see it next month. I’m looking forward to it. I’m not a critic just someone who enjoys the theater and is glad that Broadway has reopened. 🎭

  24. @foxy, Hard to believe that its been 20 years since this show was on Broadway. Like you, I saw it a couple of times. Sadly, what’s different from 20 years ago is what it takes to enter the theater. Yes, the Covid restrictions are still in place: masks, proof of vaccine, ID’s, but the unusual one was locking your phones in a case to prevent anyone from taking pictures or videos. I enjoyed the play and thought the acting was well done. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, better know for Modern family, was very funny! The performance I saw was sold out. Not sure if it was because of this revival of this award winning show or the nudity. Maybe a lot of people just like baseball. 😉 It’s an easy ticket to get at TKTS.
