Are gay men less afraid of prostate exams and colonoscopies?
+ poolboy48220 replied to snowstalker02's topic in Men's Health
Or they just put absolutely no thought into the flavor, just how effective it was at purging. There's an old quote, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" - and I'd add "thoughtlessness" to "stupidity". -
How often is a compliment you give genuine ?

That exact scenario was in the annual training we're required to take at work about "Office Conduct". Those things crack me up. I'm pretty sure our company started emphasizing them after one of the high-level executives of the company was caught in a huge sex harassment scandal. -
Are gay men less afraid of prostate exams and colonoscopies?

I've never had the horrible prep drinks; my sisters warned me about it before my first procedure, saying "it's like drinking thick salt water". I had the same prep that you did, and it just tasted like Gatorade. -
This is the premise of a new showing starting on CBS All Access August 9, "Star Trek: Lower Decks". A comedy focusing more about the support crew than the command crew. The trailer has one crewmember assigned to "Holodeck cleanup", and another crewmember says "That's Klingon prison stuff!" I'm looking forward to it. I'm fond of the "Lower Decks" episode of Next Generation, focusing on four junior crew members; in no small part influenced by one of the junior crew members is played by Dan Gauthier...

Why did I think of the end of Blazing Saddles, when it breaks out into the studio? "They lose me after the bunker scene".

I'm getting more hooked on "I'll Be Gone in the Dark". I am having a hard time NOT googling to find whether the EAR/ONS guy was ever caught, I don't want to spoil it. I remember browsing the Downton Abbey wiki before I was caught up on the series and unexpectedly found out some things... :-(

I remember an interview with Jimmy Fanz where, if I remember correctly, he was asked about escorting; he said something like he was too disorganized and would probably make a botch of it. This was during my frequent googling of "Jimmy Fanz escort".
-
Agreed. An escort asking is somewhat out of line. That's much weirder coming from a masseur.
-
Nobody's mentioned Jimmy Fanz yet? Never escorted as far as I know, nor does porn any more, but oh my. Solomon/Aspen - he did have an ad up at one point. And I have to echo Jamie and Archie from Sean Cody.
-
Paul Lekakis? A hookup or did he advertise? This was one of my favorite pictures long ago

I remember a trip to Toronto in my teens, we went to the grocery store and couldn't find the beer, and they laughed when we asked about it. Beer in Canada is sold through government-run stores then called Brewers Retail (now just called "The Beer Store") and liquor/wine is through LCBO stores (Liquor Control Board of Ontario, I think). At least it was the last time I was there - it's been a couple of years and given the border closing was just extended to August 9, it may be a while yet.

I guy I hired early in my hiring told me about Albolene. He later gave me a hot picture of himself, and he's either holding the jar or it's on the table next to him, can't remember.

Have you ever apologized for not following someone's advice?
+ poolboy48220 replied to a topic in The Lounge
I don't have an issue with admitting I was wrong, but can't think of a time when I've apologized for it. I'm thinking mostly about work situations though. On a similar note, I've been annoyed when people ignore/disregard help I've given them, and then totally screw up what they're doing. I helped a co-worker write some code, I wrote a 'skeleton' for her program saying in comments "You need to do this here", "once you've verified this, you need to do this here". First thing she did when she started doing the work was to delete all my comments. (headbang) -
Are gay men less afraid of prostate exams and colonoscopies?
+ poolboy48220 replied to snowstalker02's topic in Men's Health
Dan Savage (I quote him a lot) talked about getting a prostate exam during a physical in one of his books. The doctor was talking to him as he was about to start, trying to reassure him, and Dan finally said "Doc, I'm a gay man. This is not a big deal, just dive in" (or something to that effect). I may've used a similar line on my doctor. speaking from personal experience, prostate exams have never bothered me, and having had several colonoscopies, I do not remember the actual procedure from any of them. Good anesthesia I guess; even the 'twilight' type, I do not remember falling asleep or waking up, but I don't remember them doing, er, anything back there. :-) -
I am rich in life. I'm relatively well-off money-wise but don't consider myself affluent. I live in a great neighborhood in a wonderful city, I have wonderful neighbors who help each other out, I have the best dog in the world by my side, good friends, and my family, while they have their issues, is not the s**t-show that I hear about other people's families. Somebody had to say it :-)

sorry, it's just a link I found when googling "Drew Andrews gay porn". Try this one, from a different site: https://pornstars.biguz.net/pics/492dca50c7dbc52d6ad3d480ad9a8ba4/Drew+Andrews+Gay+Porn.jpg

I prefer Tia Maria to Kahlua (confirmed at a blind taste test a summer or two ago), less sugary and more of a true coffee taste. But it's not a cheaper alternative. I used to make homemade Kahlua, a recipe using instant coffee and vodka; I was surprised to find that both Kahlua & Tia Maria were rum-based. I think Tia Maria may've been the first liquor I ever tasted, a thimbleful at a family gathering in my pre-teens. Not knowing what coffee tasted like, nor knowing any Spanish yet, I thought "Tia" meant it was tea-flavored.

This guy? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/LPgCVqoWnKdHAS5G8SFsELX4ZiqFRfof2ys_BfaQbmsnFOwXOpQs6jdZXIn0EkIlnExN_4EQemYc1bliQVX0BmeXnp4J2v2wp8KWO5lyPlu99eGt1CTGAZFRJee3UMk I did too, I think I remember reading he was bi, or maybe straight.

I checked and did not see it on NBC's on-demand through our cable system.
-
I just checked my DVR recording and apparently our local NBC station preempted it for some local thing.
-
Wow. I loved the show and recorded the special but haven't watched yet, I'll let you know.
