All of my tenth graders are totally into this show, which is now in its second season on Netflix. They are requiring that I binge watch the first season over Thanksgiving.... Anyone want to chime in as to whether or not this is a good use of my time? (Hoping to hear a chorus of "ayes"!)

I always do a particularly NYC way of "giving" - I have an unlimited monthly card for use of the subways, and there are often people at the station from where i exit who need a free "swipe" in order to be able to use the train. I always --without exception-- share the use of my transit pass with people in need.

i attend their "meetings" quite occasionally. i always thought that everyone there knew one another, and that i was a bit of an outsider (or fresh meat, depending on your viewpoint). i generally prefer gatherings where a more liberal (inclusive?) definition of fun prevails!

I watch it, but only for Manny Jacinto!

i totally get where you are coming from on that.... i might, however, have had a somewhat different reaction. your words of caution are appreciated, and i have been checking him out myself for awhile but, regrettably, i fear that an insurmountable hurdle has now been erected!

hard core "foodie" here and i would rather food shop than any other kind of shopping (well, books rank high too...) there are some wonderful smaller-than-supermarket places in NYC (like Fairway...) for top quality food - less precious and pretentious than "gourmet markets" and more variety and more-hard-to-find "specialty" items than in a typical supermarket i try to supplement my delivered groceries with a stop at one of these places at least once a week for some baked goods, fun dessert items, hard to find fruits/vegetables, and so on... all these pieces put together work just fine!

I totally agree with you - I am very particular about what I will eat and if any delivery service ever gave me sub-standard items, they would definitely feel the full wrath of my anger (well, at least my disappointment). That is why after considerable shopping around I have picked the companies I do business with. Again (BozoTheKapo's obsession about me and my career notwithstanding), having the crazy hours of a teacher and the eating philosophy of a fitness-geek/health nerd, I think I am making the best of a potentially very bad situation (pizza hut for dinner????)

i use Fresh Direct for groceries.... and a service called Plated for meal deliveries - no problem(s) with product quality in either case!

he (DeSantis) approached me a few years back... we both have New Haven ties... and was fine at first but then went all weird on me.... i never actually met him, but i would caution all that he may have some "anger management" issues!

i may very well be MORE likely to hire an openly HIV+ person to show support for him, to give him props for disclosing (and thereby implicitly taking a stand), and --all other things being equal-- for general awesomeness!

And I really appreciate his demeanor...
