I have spent much much time in and around Manila -- there is (was?) An active street scene in malate, around O Bar and Bed and I am happy to check with my buds there to see if that is still the case. As for me, I very much enjoyed the saunas. There is also an active massage parlor scene, mostly in the Quezon City area.

i have been a number of times and i would say that wearing too much clothing (by which i mean much more than underwear) might be awkward given the situation! there are many other gatherings in NY that do not restrict activities as NYJacks does - it all depends on one's preferences... i tend to prefer "less restrictive" environments.

My sympathies lie with the original poster and his concerns... after all, there is a slightly different level of intimacy (generally!) between a convenience store cashier and a person with whom one has just had an erotic encounter - feelings and sensitivities are likely to be in a hightened state, of course... and even small gestures can be mis-interpreted or blown out of proprotion. as for me, i am always worried that i may have unintentionally short-changed my person, and request that he count out the amount i have left - "just to be sure" - and confess that i am prone to the dizziness of an academic! it ends the encounter on a chuckle....

Phuket is not a relaxing place... it is (in)famous for scams, touts, rip-offs, and so on... an over-developed rather unattractive island, if you ask me. while there is some nightlife to be had and if that is an important consideration, you could enjoy the place, but just keep your guard up!

Is this your first visit to the Island? Is there any specific reason you have chosen Phuket over, say, Samui? (I ask because your response will inform my answer!)
